J-J-J-eggings

Don't ask me why I feel the need to say Jeggings in the same way as you would G-Unit.  I don't even particularly like the G-ster but I do like saying G-G-G-Unit just for the hell of it and because the potent desire to become a loaded rapper is in fact deeply lodged in my brain.  Another completely made-up, horreur to the English Oxford dictionary, fashion mag prescribed word has been circulating for a while now and yes, it's the jegging.  Suffice to say, I can't really say it with a serious face so I might as well say it with the magic touch of the man that is 50 Cent.

Rappers and multiple J's aside, somebody alerted me that the floral jeans/leggins that I highlighted back in January were now online on ASOS.  Through the magical world of Twitter, one of the ASOS lasses was very kind to send me a pair and today I trialled them with an old floral bed shirt, a ton of grey and a bounce in the step (I can now officially run for a bus without looking like I'm doing some sort of special homage to MC Hammer).  Whether they're jeggings, thin jeans or stretchy trousers – they're quite possibly going to be my new "I'm living in these" trousers.  So comfry are they that they're in danger of becoming the equivalent of 'mum' trews (my mother went through stages of living in the same pair of trousers for days on end when she had to look after her little ones aka my baby sisters…) if I'm not careful.

Haven't fully explored the floral clashing/matching potential of them yet but I guess if they're that comfy, there'll be plenty of time for that, not that they would be documented here lest they bore you people to death.

  1. I really love jeggings! They really are comfortable. I have a thicker pair from ASOS that are just like very stretchy/tight jeans, indigo wash and cropped. And my absolute fave pair I picked up in the Selfridges Topshop the other day – they are full length (good for cold, rainy days) and SO comfortable and so versatile!

  2. OMG! Those jeggings are love! They look amazing on you. I especially love the sheer black top look. You look lovely x
P.S. yes twitter is kinda magical, isn’t it?

  3. oh my god I AM IN LOVE, THESE ARE JUST AMAZING i am clicking “order” as we speak despite the fact i cannot afford them right now 😉 xx

  4. Oh my gosh that looks so good the way you paired it. The fabric looks so comfortable. Reminds me of thermal pants or ‘qio ku’ (long underwear) from China. a combo of both.

  5. I would normally be scared shitless of that much floral (especially on my lower half), but I am really liking the first look…
How you pull this all off is nothing short of amazing to me.

  6. you should thread some floral fabric through the nikes instead of laces to make everything even more florified (if thats not a word, it should be)
    xx

  7. I adore your last outfit! Brings to mind the beautiful styling in Lust,Caution. Where did you get that vintage top?

  8. These are practically the same Jeggings Molly Ringwald wore in Pretty in Pink (the scene where she yells at Ducky when he pulls the alarm at the record shop). I’ve been looking for them for YEARS. Thank you for being awesome!

  9. Sigh- you put my all floral outfits to shame. Not to mention all of your other outfits. I do go to school in middle school but those middle schoolers are probably scared of me.

  10. dearest susie, i wish i could pull off these outfits like you do!! when i head down to the UK, i really wish i’d see you because i’ll definitely snap photos with you – you’re truly magnificent!
compliments aside, i love that vintage bed jacket, very chic yet casual. xx kate

  11. “I can now officially run for the bus without looking like I’m doing some kind of special homage to MC Hammer”- Hysterical!
When I got to the last outfit I almost screamed, it’s that great.

  12. Only a petite girl could pull this off. Being 6 ft tall I would be picked up by the next paddy wagon. Good God!

  13. these are AMAZING!!
i’ve been watching old 90210 episodes nonstop lately & all the 90’s style is becoming my new favorite trend!
i’m looking for these when i’m in london in July! 🙂

  14. Ooh, I have a pair too and I LOVE mine! They are indeed unbelievably comfy:) I am loving the outfits you have made with yours, I will have to do some experimenting yet….
    Caz x

  15. Loving the jean/Liberty-Nike juxtaposition and the bed-jacket as well. Not generally a fan of the legging jean (I can’t bring myself to call it a jegging), – all wrong to me!

  16. Susie, my country even is not in a ‘The rest of the world’ list!! I should move from Ukraine to London 🙂

  17. LOVE it today! i am so fond of the flower print. and the black mesh shirt with the 3-d sleeves! have a good weekend! yay!

  18. i always read but ever comment but i am moved to after seeing that beautiful shiffon top – i am styling an ‘underwear as outerwear’ shoot (a topic i know is close to your heart) and think it would be perfect… where can i get this??
    thankyou

  19. I just got an email from Topshop today mentioning Jeggings and I had a chuckle to myself. First leggings, then treggings now jeggings, I can’t keep up. Anyway I bought myself a denim pair and they great, they go with almost anything.
Your floral ones are amazing. I love misxing patterns (especially florals) They look great with all those combinations but especially the Nike X Liberty Dunks. I so wish I had all the clothes in your wardrobe!

  20. WOW, those are awesome! I’m very jealous of your Liberty Dunks as well, they are the most gorgeous things ever made 🙂

  21. the bed jacket is amazing. i love the colors!
btw…confession. i was at the erin show in NYC and you passed by but i was too shy to say hi
    ah..!

  22. Wow, the top in the last outfit really blends with the leggings, it’s the rhythm of the blooms or something.. My favorite is the bed jacket and boots. 🙂

  23. Wow you look ah-amazing! I love all the outfits, I wish I could wear my flowery clothes as well as you do- I always end up looking like an extension to a table cloth.

  24. I love them! If I say floral jeggings out loud it sounds so wrong but they look fantastic. Hmm…I wonder if I could pull them off!

  25. I was just wondering whether you were on Twitter – though god, how’d you have the time to tweet and blog and do your job? I can’t do it!
    @hautepop

  26. i’m so glad you like them susie!
and you look absolutely fabulous with the clashing floral – brilliant ideas as always.

  27. I’m a bit confused. Wouldn’t ‘jean leggings’ (or jeggings) just be skinny jeans? Or are they more trousers? I’m not even sure if trousers in the UK means the same in the US.
    Oh well, they’re aweosme.

  28. Fashionispoison: Why didn’t ya?
Jay: I tweet very infrequently and blogging doesn’t take up as much time as ppl think….
Sunset: I think what jeggings means is that the fit is tighter than a skinny jean and strictly speaking, the cotton used is a very thin stretch denim….as opposed to normal denim so they don’t really feel like you’re wearing jeans….

  29. oh wow! i LOVE those leggings! this friend of mine a while back, a really staunchly purist vintage style rock and roll dresser like a la Guitar Wolf kind of thing. he begrudgingly went to a Madonna concert. fell in love with her, and started to wear rose covered jeans with a concert t-shirt of hers with her face on it. so funny. he looked great. i have to find the photo one day.

  30. The 2nd shot – with the vintage bed-jacket – is my favourite. Don’t like the Cacherel vest or skirt, so the Upmarket sheer tee gets 2nd place runner up in my voting system. But I don’t understand: if they’re floral, wouldn’t that make them fleggings?
