All Wrapped Up

I simply marvelled at the reaction to Louise Richardson when I posted about her a few weeks ago.  They are essentially works of art that aren't at all meant for wearing but the response to them was immense.  There are a number of designers that don't necessarily adhere to seasonality, and design on a whim with wearability in mind but not giving it to you in a conventional route.  No Editions comes to mind and Rita Saardi who I posted about last year also is a contender.  They also unfortunately fall into a category of designers who are hard to research but I guess that adds to the 'difficult-to-attain-' allure.  Saardi's latest collection is now up online and it's exactly what it says in the title; All Wrapped In Black.  It's an acquired taste to want bows, ribbons and general frou frou to be thrown around on your body creating pretty baggage and volume in unexpected pieces. But if like me you're not going to be thrown off course if something doesn't make you look like a super Amazonian bod or a frail waif and just want to be covered in uncontrolled frippery, then Saardi has it all going on… and I mean, ALL in the puffed out bow sense of the word…

  1. These are truly wearable works of art. I would wear every single on in an instant, but it would also make me happy to look at them in a museum. Definitely going into the inspiration folder.
