There's a wee 14 year old girl (a wild guess but she has got a 'Year 8' look about her…) who rides the 43 bus who I see when I'm on the way to work and on weekends too. The lucky thing gets to be fairly liberal with her school uniform so along with her navy pinafore, she's got pink knee high socks, customised gem-encrusted heels, tons of bangles and rings, headbands and hairclips, and the whole mismatched kitschy earring thing going on. And I thought being allowed to wear flared trousers at secondary school was lenient enough. Pah. Not to sound stalkerish or anything (or maybe I've already crossed into that sketchy territory!) but on the weekends, the accessorizing on this girl goes 10-fold and even more kawaii in style.
So I immediately though of her when I stumbled onto Cecilia Fabbri's portfolio. Going through her carefully indexed mountain of work takes a little while but the gist of My Magic Diary, her label/portfolio, is that she has a cute, slightly subversive jewellery line as well as having worked for Karen Walker and is currently working on accessories for Moschino and Alberta Ferretti. She's also a polaroid freak as illustrated by her homepage image above. I love the way she has presented her latest line of earrings entitled "Doll Propaganda" superimposed on top of editorial pics…
I personally of course don't wear any earrings due to the pesky allergy but hopefully this will somehow make its way to that girl… or I'll feed it into her brain mentally through some kind of telepathy on the bus… or I'll overstep the border by printing these off and shoving them into her hands, walking off and it will be like a random and twee Wes Anderson-cinematic moment…
How do you know she’s 14, Susie? You are a true fashionista stalker. 😀

So check it out!
i really find this beautiful!
love your blog
Just wear clip-ons, that’s what I do. Few people buy them so there is usually an excellent selection at every thrift shop.
Meream: Hehe…of course it’s just a guess! Can’t be 100% sure!
E: I can’t wear metal backed clip ons and I don’t see many plastic ones at all… in any case, the plastic irritates my skin as well… I have terribly sensitive skin…
Okay, so actually, I want you to be even creepier and take secret pictures of her next time you two cross each other. Yes.
I love how she’s showcased her earrings, it’s so effective and amusing at the same time. xx
Lovely, lovely pics…
wonderful blog you have!
xo
I wonder if she knows who you are and is just too shy to say hello? That would make her day.
all of these photos are lush. I love the placed earrings on the last bunch.
Oh this post is HEAVEN to me. Polaroids & kitsch earrings. I have 4 holes in each ear (I know, so 1990’s) and I religiously wear different earrings in each hole..sometimes with a matching pair at the bottom if I’m wearing hoops or something. Can’t leave the house without all holes filled! Mostly my earrings are silly…some I’ve been (badly) knitting myself. But these are just lovely! Thanks Susie!
I too want to see a photo of this girl :O
Love these….love the new look of your blog, too. Very cool.
I love it when you start to “know” regulars on commutes; it was rubbish at uni when my lectures were different times each day so I never got to have a specific journey.
ps. Year 8’s are 12/13. 14 year olds are in year 9/10; my sister is 14 and she is a giant compared to me :c
Cool earrings! And I love the polaroids too! 🙂
xx
haha that is completely what my room looks like, but messier. susie you should totally bubblecam that girl. havent had any bubblecam action in agessss 😉
I love the way these are shot. And the fact that you’ve been eyeing a young girl in uniform! I had to wear a uniform once and it was pretty cool to note how much personality a person can inject into their outfit without breaking the rules.
Hahaha, I have 5 holes in my ears (3 & 2), Ali is right, indeed SO 1990s! I also went all out when I was 14, you get away with a lot during that age (if you’re not too selfconcious that is, some girls were soo scared of standing out back then). Aah, flashback to trashy jewellery habits 🙂
Not to sound stalkerish either, but I’ve seen you on the 43 a few times 🙂 (Angel to Shoreditch commute)
katie if I saw Susie Bubble I think I’d have a fit :O
Sorry Susie, I know that sounds weird and stalkerish but I only know you from the internet and I read your blog most days. To see you and your outfits in the flesh would be very strange! And it would probably happen on a day I’m wearing something rubbish..
I am moving to the EastEnd soon though…
What a great way to showcase earrings! Love it!
I agree with Eline!! Take pictures!! haha :))
My uniform is waaay too strict for that sort of thing. I can get away with heart-patterned tights once in a while, or cute little knee-socks. But apart from that, nada. We even have to wear blazers – MAROON blazers. Aargh!!!

Great idea to demonstrate earrings using posters )) I think you have a future in fashion.
Sound cool idea for showing the beauty of earrings. I’m pretty much hopeful by having in such idea now and I would like to implement in such idea to my business promotion. Thanks
