I've posted Kasia Bobula's mesmerising images of Mark Fast enough times to let my love for the fine cob-webby knitter be known to all and sundry. There's something in the tension of his work that makes it exhilarating to see a piece that looks like it's teetering on the edge of destruction stride out onto a catwalk. That the pieces are in reality not as delicate as they seem and are in fact strongly held together knitting feats is testament to Fast's skills…
Sadly though Fast is a little out of my reach price-wise. With great knits comes great price tag and deservedly so.
craftsmanship in fashion these days, as opposed to quick-fix disposable
pieces. I am focusing on timeless classics.” Mark Fast.
I hang my head in shame as my love for Fast is ironically what made me buy this top from H&M (quick-fix disposable piece) which I bought yesterday. Now, artfully ripped/frayingtees, super-holey things have been about for a bit in stores and all over the blogospheres with some amazing DIYs out there, but there was something about this top that I think takes it beyond the usual holiness (does that sound as weird as it does in my head…?). Something in the way the thin strands are used, the way the holes are placed and how it's laid out like a stained-glass window grid. Of course, it doesn't have the sexy tautness of Fast's work which is probably nigh on impossible to recreate on the cheap but hey…I don't mind playing it Fast and Loose (come on, you knew that was coming…).
Today, I'm going fast, loose and a bit tight as well with the Ann Sofie Back fishnet body stocking, oh whilst I'm out with all that speed, looseness and tightness, I might as well throw in some cutesy hot pink too courtesy of Jennifer Loiselle's headphone headband…
(Ann Sofie Back fish net body stocking, cheapie pink tiered dress, Jennifer Loiselle headband, Sam Edelman wedge boots)
incredible. the color suits you very well!
your meshy overdress reminds me of “Mexican papel picado”.lovely.
you look cute on it 😛
Absolutely AMAZING! Love the ‘Princess Lea’ headphones! 🙂
xx
This is one of my favourite Style Bubble outfits ever!!
Hi, is this the H&M trend label? The one with the pink label?
That outfit is just too perfect for words. Sigh, not to sound creepy but I could look at you all day wearing that XD
wow such a cute outfit ! I love it ! Love the colours, love this fish net body and love your amazing headband ! GREAT !
Something about knitwear mesmerizes me. I love just how soft and comfy they feel. And hey! Due to recent trends, knitwear is now rockin’.
Love your outpink. Hot pink. Smokin’!
This is H&M? :O
I’ve not seen it in store..
One of my fave outfits of yours yet, a little unexpectantly.
you look like an actual doll. in a good way. love ALL the netting and the head band. man you pull these things of well.
Also…on the quick fix, disposable fashion thing..
I’m probably in the minority here but the truth is despite being mad about clothes I don’t own anything even slightly expensive let alone designer. It’s not that I wouldn’t like to..there are a lot of designers I love, it’s just that I grew up only ever being bought clothes from jumble sales, charity shops, C&A, Tammy etc.. This frugal way of shopping has always stayed with me, so much so that I even find Topshop overpriced most of the time! (I think I’m alone there..)
But anyway, my point was…I have things from H&M (and from cheaper, more frowned upon shops) that have literally lasted for years and years. Just because it’s cheap, I’ve rarely had any serious quality issues and find it funny when people (mostly designers) deem it as “throw away disposable fashion”. Just a thought.
the dress looks like something that Alexander Mcqueen will design. love it *~* and love the pink under it.
i think some of my favorite knit cobwebby pieces are still rodarte’s. the mix of color and texture, fascinating. don’t feel so bad about the quick fix, imagine the horrendous screams there would be should you have caught such a piece on something (which is v v likely). enjoy it, you look FAB.
x
love this headband!!!!
& love this colour!!!
lo.

Wow, you look great! What else can be said?
NO WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great styling! Love the outfit and boots.
When will H&M get around to opening an online shop! They must be the only high street store without one now, and it cuts down the chances of finding these gems!
You look really cute, Susie. I always love you in that headband. They look great with your bangs.
amazing. usually I’m not such a huge fan of pink, but you nailed it! Love the contrast. That knit is stunning.
xo
hi! we are fans!
I’m lusting after that headphone headband. Like pink lettuce leaves on your head… The Mark Fast knit is obviously delicious, but I love the way you styled yours over a fuschia dress… Do you think we’ll be seeing more “as inspired by” Fast knits in the near future?
That dress is FANtastic!!! I love me some Anne Sophie Back!!!
That shirt is fantastic. And I am always in awe of how you manage to pull off rather trashy things–a fishnet body stocking, for example–and then look completely artful and not trashy in the least.
Nice job, Susie. =)
That is an amazing outfit! The H&M top reminds me of net dresses from the 1910s and 1920s and is a bit art deco-ish, too. I can’t believe it’s H&M! Love the headband, too.
Never enough pink and black. Love all those cobwebby layers!
love the fishnet underlay! This is all good. Makes me think of Flamenco dancing, somehow – maybe the headband?? 😉
really fun outfit ! love the boots !
VERY cute! 🙂 I love the headband… Very Chun Li. (nerdy streetfighter reference)
I really dig Mark’s work. RAH!
Awesome – I’m actually making a shredded webby T-shirt as we speak! You look fab: those headphoney things are classic Style Bubble.

I saw a top like this in H&M the other day but it had fringing around the hem, really wish I had bought it now! Looks great!
^I cut the fringing off! Sorry forgot to say that!
wow… you absolutely pull this off. i love the contrast of the black and hot pink.
p.s. i laughed so hard when i read your post about the teen vogue recession tips. i had the same reaction when i read that article. i mean, wtf?
That fishnet bodystocking is sublime! You’ve styled your outfit to perfection as per usual xXx
I was planning to do a diy but this is a much better option shame I’m not gonna be in London for at least another three weeks, it’ll probably be sold out by then.
I am sooo inspired by the fishnet layer!
That H&M piece is awesome. I really love it because it’s so versatile and can transform any dull dress!
The color combination was spot on. Really liked the black on pink. On the matter of disposable clothing. I don’t think it can be helped for most people. There are those that want to stay in style, but can’t afford to keep up with new high end pieces. Besides being frugal isn’t bad in my opinion. What matters is what you do with your pieces.
oh my god, that’s from h&m!! I need to get one…..
xx-LJ from SOS!
Now, now… no need to hang your head in shame. That outfit of yours looks awesome.
i love this look on you!
the bright pink and black together look great.
and that headband…oh that headband!!! fabulous!
Love the outfit! the pink really suits you well. The cutout dress reminds me of a top I saw in ADAM Adam Lippes’s resort line.. So cute! I think it’s something right up your alley. I saw it on a sneak peak on shopadam.com
I agree with the McQueen comment. It is like a window. Love and want!
Great outfit, I love that top. Alas, my nearest H&M hasn’t had any. Or at least I did an especially poor job of describing it- I really liked your stained glass window grid analogy, but I think in the context of my description I confused the poor sales assistant further.
You’re gorgeous!
from spain I can only said “ol√®”
the net with the pink goes well together and you suit it. however personally im not fond of the colour pink, soley because i dont suit it . the shoes are to die for !! Great combo once again !!
