>> I much prefer to be A-MUSING than a muse… at the very least the former isn't imbued with some heavyweight responsibility to be constantly inspiring. Still, to be named a muse and then be drawn thus…
…a-muses me very much! A big thank you is of course required. By the by, I mean 'amusing' in the old-fashioned way where being amused by something doesn't mean you're sneering at it…
Illustrator H.H. (no real names revealed…) has been slowly building up her illustration/inspiration blog as well as starting up a vintage website Magic Theatre Vintage where there is a 'Muse' section where I currently sit with Gala of Am Lul and Annabel of Blushing Ambition. That of course is a-musing (18th/19th century definition…). On her blog H.H. (I'm referring to her as a her but it could be a 'he' or maybe even a collective…), she's also beautifully illustrated this editorial from the Dazed October 2009 issue (shot by Max Farago, styled by Katie Shillingford…)… capturing the mussed-up styling perfectly..
Their vintage website is one to keep an eye on as the selection is teensy but what prompted me to post it actually, (other than the mere idea of me being a muse…) is this Shangri-La dress that they've done a short but magical film on… yes, dress, you go and move, shimmer and shine! It supports my obsession with Because Magazine's fun and short product-focused films that show them in movement without going into needlessly pretentious territory….
On a muse-related note that is also a-musing (you can take that to mean any way you want… you can even see it as ridiculous/hilarious if you wish…)… first year fashion design student CSM Ani Lam used me as the subject of her project where she had to design 20 outfits based on the muse… this is the final illustration from the project. Ickle me's surrounded by macaroons, a reverse Belgian flag, Shanghai Pearl Tower, the Bank of China building in Hong Kong, the London Eye and the Eiffel Tower… hmmm…
I wouldn't mind some of the monochrome pleated toga pieces Ani has come up with…perhaps she's saying I need to err…tone down the colours/prints… hmm….most a-muuuuuuuusing….
That sequence dress is fabulous.
(oops.. got the copy paste wrong…)
Yep I agree with Justyna… Loving the embroided dress…!
About the flag… do you think she wanted to represent the belgian flag…?
