>> If I'm feeling lazy about blog content, the cure is just to pop into Machine-A on Berwick Street because it seems every time I do pop in, something new or completely unheard of will have landed on the rails, only for it to be whisked away in no time for shoot or ransacked by Lady Gaga. Thankfully she did her mahussive shop just before Yasmin Kianfar's beautiful dresses made it into the shop. I saw grey. I saw cut-outs. I saw sheer. I saw long swishing length. "Who's thaaaaaaaat?" I asked with a self-loathing fury – i.e. why the heck hadn't I heard of Kianfar???
A CSM graduate, she has just set up her own evening wear label. Or so she says… you tag yourself with evening wear and I just say "Tosh!" to that. These are pieces that needn't be laden with an antiquated garment category. Surely lightweight long chiffon dresses with-cut-outs can be worn at dawn, day, dusk, night or deep deep night depending on how they are worn. For her S/S 10 collection, Yasmin looked at the intricacies of fossil structures and boned undergarments which apparently share more similarities than one might think. It then involved to include laser-cut silk jersey and buckled leather bodies. The nods of fetishism are in this rare occurrence understated because of the offsetting with the draped pieces, softly pleated sheer dresses as well as the addition of grey. Grey. Draping. Soft silks. That's all I need to hear really…
Reminds me of Rachael Barrett for some reason… unbeknown. Perhaps the sheer… love this continued fusion of ‘east meets west’ that’s becoming a prevalent trait (vague, yes…). What’s more cool is how differing cultures are manipulating the pieces to fabricate their own look (well that’s not new?). Nothing new in how consumers regurgitate the ‘style’ of what they’re doing, but with so many collisions we might just find our very own illusive ‘God particle’ of fashion someday soon? ahem.
wow these are really beautiful. i’d like to wear all of them! you’d need to mix in some colour though, right susie?
these dresses can easily be styled either way. surely they look stunning as evening wear, yet some of them will easily pass for the day time. i loved how light and flowy they look and how that chiffon hugs the body in a very delicate way. tailoring looks impeccable + these little cut-outs make these pieces very today. cannot wait to see what Yasmin has in store for the Winter looks

I love those beautiful pieces
Oh Wow! each piece is an artwork in its own right. I love the cut out details. They remind me a little of sass & bide, but much more whimsical.

That last dress in the centre is 2D4!!!
I love the strapping and sheerness of these pieces. The haphazard layering is also quite appealing, fantastic all up.
