>> I've finally figured out the perfect analogy for Hannah Menzie's collection which I'm revisiting FO REALZ here as I borrowed a few pieces for a shoot. If Jessica Wakefield went on some school trip where ice skating was involved, this is what I imagine her to be wearing. Ok, maybe it's an Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield hybrid because there's a few too many layers and perhaps broderie anglaise would be too 'prissy' for Jessica. Maybe a high ponytail is too dorky for Jessica who liked her hair down in soft tumbling waves. Still, I'd like to think there there's some sass to this that is slightly more daring than Elizabeth's hair barrette and button-down shirt wearing ways…
Well, I've said most of what I need to say about Menzies' graduate collection but the proof is in the real wearing which just asserts my point about this year's crop of graduates giving me feelings of instant wardrobe coveting. In particular this sea-foam (I realise I need MORE sea-foam colour in my life…) mohair jacket that is also worked in with sports mesh and knitted cuffs is going to be hard to send back. Oh, and yes, the skirt is indeed an upgraded version of the aertex skirt I had to wear for hockey. If mine had Swarovski rectangular buttons I wouldn't have bunked off so many P.E. classes and would have at least made an effort of swinging that hockey stick… (team sports and I had a bit of a problem gelling together…)…
(Hannah Menzies jacket and skirt, vintage floral lace body, Topshop copper bra, ruffled shorts underneath from Pixie Market, Uniqlo tights, Forever21 shoes)
P.S. I'm laughing at myself for even having the audacity to place this under a 'Books' category. But I have no shame. I consumed them in the Young Adult section of my library. With gusto….
i can’t believe that i am the best one to post(i think)!
Really like your style soooooo much, always give me a surprise!!!!!@3@
loove this look! and the jacket seems so cozy 🙂
xx
sweet outfit, sweet coulours, love it
I am not even gonna lie, I was obsessed with Sweet Valley High at school, and not even primary; secondary school. great styling with the flowing pony tail, rather than your signature bun, it fits with the Menzies outfit. x
I was more into the Twins books when they were in middle school while my friends with into the high school version. For Christmas, my aunt got me a Sweet Valley Kids book when I was 12–I’m talking third grade level. I read it anyway….
When and where did you get those shoes? I don’t recall ever seeing them online or in F21 stores. I adore them.
You wore skirts like that for gym? Lucky… its so much better than sweatpants branded with the school name =-=;
This look is cute & sweet.
Love it.

cool dresses! love it!
Oh Sweet Valley High, how I miss your wonderful Wakefield twins…
is it sweet??
but i do really don’t like this style
LOVING THE SKIRT!
That jacket is pretty rad. And what a great connection to make between the book series and this collection.
i do like this look a lot. the designs are very young and fresh and seem easy to wear. the sparkly detail on the skirt adds this little extra touch to it and the knitted cardigan looks amazing. love the back and the combination of textiles.

oh gosh how nice it is to find another comrade who has had a ravenous appetite for Sweet Valley! I was one of those who went into the bookshop so often just to see if they have any new ones out! Jessica with her long blond locks, and Elizabeth with her pristine ponytail… ahhh, they were there for my formative years indeed…
Hahaha, Sweet Valley was practically staple reading for the elementary-to-middle-school set in the mid-to-late 90s! I remember the Wakefields’ blondeness and size 6 figures very well (apparently a recent reboot revised that to size 4), as well as all the Unicorn Club hijinks…
Those buttons are pure brilliance though, I love the colours- the photograph makes them look like they’re painted though they’re probably actually coloured crystal. Hybrid of Elizabeth and Jessica is just about the right way to describe this 🙂
YES! the young adult section! sweet valley high! i was obsessed. didn’t get on with team sports either. or gym. maybe that’s because the lack of equipment meant everyone was forced to watch me flail ungracefully over the only horse vault! traumatic! anyway.. that is a beautiful jacket.
Love the blue jacket!
You’re so sweet with it:)
