Friendship Tote

>> I swear this isn't a post to prompt people to buy a tote with my face on it and to be honest, I'm probably a little late as these Borders and Frontiers totes with illustrated mug shots of myself, Tavi, Elizabeth, Queen Michelle and Fake Karl have been up on ASOS for a bit now…

The focus point of my mugshot tote isn't my expression though which is a distinct cross between "I'm about to kill you" and "I've been brainwashed by aliens".  No, it is of course a 'vintage' (can 2006 possibly be vintage?) head dress from Anthony Vaccarello's graduate collection, an early gift from the designer who is now a firm firm friend.  So for this I'm grateful that the pic I submitted to Borders and Frontiers was one that is more about Anthony than it is about me, or at the very least, it's a personal reminder of our friendship…

I've never shied away from the bias I have towards Vaccarello but at the same time his work has never given me reason to cover up with some flimsy excuse of "He's my friend".  I'm just insanely lucky that he does churn out collections that time and time again, blows my mind.  I'm taking this moment to congratulate him on the bout of press he's had, namely a profile piece in US Vogue's September issue as well as to say that Browns now have his A/W 10-11 collection online.  I'm kind of amazed at the progression trajectory from season to season but I guess I shouldn't be all that shocked either.  S/S 11 is also shaping up to be stunning…well, of course, more shameless bias posts will be on their way in due course…

  1. Can’t say I’m not tempted by that tote! Must be a bit strange knowing that people are carrying their weekly shop in one of these totes with your face on it!
Anyway, It’s a fantastic illustration! It’s great that you can count Vaccarello as a friend and share his wonderful talent with us all. His pieces are so interesting and I like that there’s more than meets the eye especially with the details.

  2. wowww i wanna get the karl bag!!
check out my fashion blog at thetalesofselfindulgence.blogspot.com
just updated new post today!!! dont miss xoxo

  3. I want them all! And all of Anthony’s stuff too! I was actually just reading that Vogue article yesterday, and, believe it or not, I thought of you because I did indeed remember all those “bias” posts you’ve done . . . not that you need to be biased to declare his work amazing!

  4. I’m in love with those totes, but must admit that I’d feel like the biggest fangirl/crazy person ever when asked about my tote:
    “I like your bag.”
“ItsSusieBubblesheisanawesomebloggerwhocanwealikeanyth- oh, um thanks, I mean.”
    or
    “I like your tote”
“THANKS ITS THIS TOTALLY HILARIOUS FAKE TWITTER ACCOUNT FOR THIS DESIGNER AND PHOTOGRAPHER ITS HILARIOUS AND-where are you going?”
And I’m loving that Vaccarello dress as well!

  5. Wow, Vaccarello’s designs are amazing! I could see the two smaller tops/bustiers over a sheer top or high waisted pants. Love it!

  6. incredible! it’s simply amazing how many silly people want to buy trashy things nowadays! By the way, hope B&F are bloody paying you all, even though I guess that most bloody bloggers would just be happy to see their faces on a bag…you’re just a bunch of egomaniacs…ahahaha!!!

  7. I saw those totes yesterday when I was browsing ASOS, how funny to see you posting about them today!
I’m quite tempted by the Karl one, not that yours isn’t tempting :p

  8. Frankly, I’m not that taken by the tote bags because I can’t see myself walking around with a printed head under my arms. Though I must say the illustrations are well rendered (just probably not on a tote bag)
Anthony Vaccarello’s pieces look amazing here. Wonder how you will wear them. Will be anticipating your ‘shamelessly bias’ post on his collection! *grins*

  9. Those pieces are stunning! I love how Vaccarello has been so creative with structure and detail while still keeping within the limits of an all-black color scheme. I especially love that last piece – the strapless top (ish) + (partially) sheer turtleneck combination is amazing for fall.
Loving the Fake Karl tote, as well.
