You'll probably know that my fashion week coverage tends to be gappy, a bit random and not necessarily up there in a flash. However, the powers that be deemed that day 2 would be a complete wipe-out due to schedule address/time mistakes, crisis in hotel rooms and FNO basically causing taxi disasters hence the day merger. In addition, I'll be taking select faves out and singling them out for praise in separate posts so yes, patchy would be the key word of these round-ups.
After I semi-recovered from incorrect schedules, cab disasters and tearful phonecalls, I caught the mugshot show at N.Hoolywood's presentation, the HUUUUGE Japanese menswear label that made its rightful debut in New York…
Doo. Ri's white bustier that slips off the shoulder is prompting me to wonder what is sitting in my gut of a belly…
You can't really see here but I loved the combination of the chunky top-heavy knits with sequins shimmering in the skirt underneath…
Tommy Ton in…gasp… a PRINT! An old Prada one at that…
Risto poured a bucket of a water on a trenchcoat and it formed some beautiful puddle prints that blended seamlessly with the khaki of the coat…
Fish-plait pleating along the sides of a Risto frock…
I also loved the brief interlude into fresh mint green that was emphasised with the use of clear green perspect integrated into a knitwear piece….
Mari from Kaleidoscope PR in a striking A/W 10-11 Tess Giberson mesh and block knitwear piece…
…and one of the sheerer, more delicate knits from the beautifully minimal S/S 11 collection…
I was also taken to this girl who had either gotten a friend to carefully biro-in some stars on the back of legs or they were in fact tattoos…
Wondering how many copies of the FT it took to bbuilt this set at Patrik Ervell and who were the poor sods who had to built it…
Also just realised this season…doh… whilst the space is beautiful I always end up seeing pure shadows because it's SO-light filled…
The lovely Connie from Refinery 29 sporting a red-pink clash that I need to try more if only my fear of wearing red could subside…
My thoughts on the Alexander Wang show still need to be carefully pondered with a possible showroom visit but once again, the appearance of that fresh minty green, this time in metallic form is of course most pleasing… oooh oooh… colour trend after only TWO days of fashion month… I'll hold my horses on this one until I get to Paris…
Isabella Tonchi did these lovely high-necked yoke/collar pieces that were embroidered, inspired by Viennese Expressionism… I didn't get a close-up of them but one to add to the shirt collar as an accessory pile…
Another season, another chance to be drawn into the Band of Outsiders world that never ceases to charm people. I tend to always break down the collections into individual pieces despite the consistently cohesive mood created by the presentations… afterall, preppy and me don't always go hand in hand… I love this lurex, navy and red blocked sweater for example… just need to err…add a more embellished pair of trews with it…
One to add to the brogue list that is ever-growing… were they paint splotches, a faint camo print or little sprigs of clover…?
Hmmm…on second thoughts…. me thinks it is a faint camo print, something that I've only been convinced about on a few instances…here, Christopher Kane x J Brand's new collab and some camo knitwear from Louise Goldin and Markus Lupfer…
We're in for a steamy summer as a hot house was created with real steam that went with these loose and light ensembles, looking ready to be sweat-drenched…
I'm fast accumulating a love for interesting/overly detailed shorts and these definitely fit the bill.. plus, the bloomer shape also makes you feel like you're wearing toddler clothes which is always a good thing…
I wonder if this guy actually was engrossed in his Klaus Kinski autobiography prop…
Oh and err…final bit of randomness. I don't have a lot to report back on regarding FNO festivities – apologies for sounding like an old lady but everywhere was just rammed, congested and err… possibly not conducive to actually making me want to shop (isn't that what the whole palava is all about?). However, my first part of FNO was taken up with a random encounter with Rachel Bilson at the Sunglasses Hut where she interviewed me as part of her schtick for the store… did I tell her that half my male uni friends fancied the pants off her as Summer in The O.C…. yes… I don't think she thought I was a complete idiot for saying so…
top in the second picture… love love love love! also the star tattoos/drawings are so beautiful!
