When I say never say never, some things are an exception. Chaps being one of them. I’m not sure what else to call these… whatever… that I bought yesterday at the Two See sale, from Patrik Rzepski‘s SS07 collection. The guy at Two See had to do a lot of explanation about how these…things….actually work probably because a lot of people have a perplexed raised eyebrow expression on their faces when they see them. He showed me that on the catwalk, they were worn over skinny jeans and are meant to work as another dimension. I like different facets, adding dimensions and layers and when worn with shorts, they sort of hark back to this those Japanese streetstyle non-slutty suspenders I blogged about yonks ago. Suspender cotton chaps anyone?

Oh ! I lurrrrrve it !
But i don’t think i can find them in france T_T !
I guess i’ll have to make them myself! But clearly it’s very stylish ! :p
they are so cute with shorts!!
wow! That looks great!
very cool, very irreverent. love them with the bubbly shorts, especially.
just on question, aren’t they terribly hot?
They look amazing with that last outfit. But something in me wishes that the straps on them were…different? Less chunky…more chunky? Higher? I dunno. However, I’m usually a very unadventurous fashion-y girl, but I WANT THESE.
Kinky! I love!
Those are great!
These are amazing! I love the third outfit with the puffy trousers and grey top. Wonderfully unique
ooh i love them with the shorts!
I’m sure I am the 288493283th person to tell you this, but I think you are the best-dressed blogger currently writing. And that is saying a LOT.
tshirt plus preen pants = casual friday du jour. (man, I’m a tool!)
The suspenders are bad ass. how about under a full skirt? they might just make the legging trend cry of lameness in its wake.
oh no. i think i know your wardrobe too well. not creepy, i swear.
yeah I prefer them only with shorts me thinks, especially when you have that vest or bodice on. or even a bra on the outside. very underwear on the outside which I kind of enjoy!
Oh I think the third one is absolutely divine!
I have to say I’m not keen.. I’m not sure I have the self confidence to carry that look off!
looks really cute in the first and last pic but to put it bluntly, it looks like you have the biggest ass with the poofy shorts :S
Why would she have an ass on the side of her legs? I think these are fantastic, especially with the shorts, Susie. This a great find and style inspiration.
i LOVE them. i want them so much. highly doubtful i will ever find any in the land of oz, so i may also have to attempt a DIY project!! any suggestions on how to do it?? Susie, you are so cool!
woah, you are such a fashion risk-taker! i don’tknow if i’d have the guts to try and pull this off, but i do like the last couple pics with the denim shorts.
Ho ho ho Ally… maybe the intention was to create a huge ass….
Audrey: Under garments… hmmm… you got me thinking!
Jen: I do agree…the straps need some adjustment…. dunno how though!
Thanks everyone…I was half scared you guys would take the piss….
its so funny my fave outfit from above is the dress!i like the denim jumpsuit tooo but i dunno isnt is a bit uncomfortable?
Well the problem is , that in my opinion they really look like suspenders, not too keen on the look…
But then…. is that saying there is a problem with suspenders?
Everything you do seems to work..
Jealous in an insane way!
Where did you get your denim jumpsuit from? Its v. cute!
xx
i like it best on the jumpsuit (or rompers as some of us call it). i love your quirky sense of fashion! it’s really refreshing to see somebody dress up so differently for a change. keep the creative juices flowing! (:
Nice job, Susie. This is really really cool… it sort of has that ugly/sexy thing going on where you’re not sure if it’s completely hot in every way or too weird to be possible. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
Wow – they certainly are quite extreme but to be honest I am not sure I like the way they look. They just about look good with shorts but Im not keen on the other looks however if you have the confidence you can carry it off! That is what I love about extreme fashion, it might not be to everyones taste but you look totally individual which these days is severely lacking what with the Grazia, Look readers following the rules! Do let us know where you wear them and the reaction you get! X
Where in the world did you get those trousers in the third photo? I’ve been looking for puffy jodhpurish trousers forever and I’ve only ever managed find some from burfitt that were in linen– not cotton sateen like yours seem to be made out of.
What i meant to say with the suspenders comment, is that to they still look like ‘suspenders sexy” (if you know what I mean), and I have the impression that is not your idea with this outfits(well i can be wrong), it is certainly not mine.
I actually think Aubrey’s idea is brilliant.
Una: Ah… I see…. well, I don’t think I look sexy/slutty (trust me when I say I’m quite incapable of looking remotely like those two adjectives…)
Kim: The trousers are very old season Preen…
Natty: I actually wore them yesterday at the 1234 festival in Shoreditch…. didn’t really notice any adverse reactions…. but just a few raised eyebrows on the tube and some Aussies shouting something lewd…
The denim jumpsuit is Topshop… Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale…. it’s shockingly good..
I’ve never commented before, but I had to say the chaps over the jodhpurs is brilliant!
Hey Susie – the preen trousers have been reissued for AW. We’ve got them coming in black… It’s good to see the chaps getting such a strong reaction!
I’m sorry, but I don’t dig them at all. They remind me of that hillbilly Brooke Hogan. They feel too gimmicky.
I would like to see when you think you look hot! this is shit and dont give me any artity crafty bs. Horses, their riders and sadle bitches think this is attractive. There is much better designs to explore out there.
I just saw what you were referring to. They are cute because they have a story to tell not this empty basket try out league without any context.
D’you think that if you just cut up some old pants, that’d work?
