If there was any post that would stop my blogging ways, the ‘I have never outfit…’ post would be it. As I’ve said before, a difference of opinion is great and I love that people here don’t entirely agree with what I do or say. ‘Hating’ and purposeful negativity is not condusive though to happy Style Bubble times *she says with a frozen grin in manner of a Stepford Wife*. That outfit got people so riled up, they felt it necessary to send me a personal email persecuting that outfit and in turn, persecuting my fashion taste. These people apparently felt the need to advise me what to wear as the outfit offended their eyes in the most horrible manner. Thus, I did question myself but having pondered it a bit more, I can honestly say that I still would wear that outfit sans adjustments. Especially when at least ONE person out in the world admired it so much, she created a cute little doll gif complete with flashing camera. Gosh I look much better in digitalised doll form don’t I?
OK, I just subscribed to your blog after discovering it last week, so I didn’t know about the “I have never outfit”. So I went back to check the post out, and I was shocked, not by the outfit, but at some of the negative reactions you got. Individuality and non-conformity should always be the order of the day, in my mind anyway, and it’s one of the things that I like so much about your blog. I’m sure you don’t need to hear this from me, but you should keep on being the true original you are, and ignore the negativity you sometimes find in the comments. Cute doll, too, by the way!
Agree!
Susie, I like your style a lot! Keep on with that and I read your blog everyday! By the way, the little cute doll gif. is super cute! I love it !
I loved the outfit!
I have to admit that I didn’t like the outfit, however, I like very much that you wore it.
I like to see people have fun with their clothes, and if they like it, then good for them. I don’t think anyone else’s oppinion is really that important.
i wasn’t very into that outfit either, and i think it’s great that you are open to negative (not hateful!) comments. i think that’s so important for a blogger to accept negativity from readers sometimes.
I remember that outfit and remembered thinking this girl has got so much natural talent when it comes to creating and commenting on fashion. Its the reason your blog is successful but is obviously a little intimidating for industry types whose talents arent so obvious, so really you should pity people who take time out of thier day to post you poison….Aside from that I love reading your blog and after working for 10 years in this industry and becoming really jaded your enthusiasm has rekindled my love affair. You rock Susie Bubble!

When people go out of their way to send you negative criticism, they are just trying to make themselves feel better by bringing you down. Hold your head up high and be proud of your confidence, it’s why I read this blog 🙂
Well, I personally loved the outfit! And I think I can safely say if I were to ever send you an email it would be ASKING for fashion advice not OFFERING it. Your creativity is really inspiring and you definately shouldn’t listen to the “haters”.
The doll is really cool too! I think the fact that someone admires you enough to take the time to make that is so great it outweighs any amount negativity you could encounter!
that doll is super adorable! your personal fashion style is beyond fantastic and continue rocking your outfits! you always look fab in whatever you wear somehow, and i am SO envious.
that is so cute!!! you can totally have you own comic book:)
I can’t believe that outfit got so much negative attention! I liked it, but if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have said anything, I would have just scrolled down in Google Reader to the next article! I can’t believe people actually bothered to make such a fuss, especially considering they must like the majority of your fashion choices, being readers of this blog.
It is just like you!! How did she do that? Amazing
when i first saw your outfit picture i was a bit freaked out but that was because it is so much more out there than anything i’d ever wear, but i love it. what’s the point of commenting if your going to be negative??
Keep on doing your thing, Susie! We’ll never be like you, and I mean that in a very positive sense.
i really liked your ‘i have never’ outfit although it’s not something i would have the confidence or creativity to wear. i definitely admire your creativity and think other people should appreciate it too, even if it’s not always to their taste.
don’t let the stupid anonymous comments bring you down– they’re too cowardly to even give their names. ;P
i adore the outfit, and that doll bears striking resemblance to you. 😮
hate to show off much ut I DREW THAT!!!! totalement agree with evrything everyone says…screw ‘haters’ and Sussie is the shizness. i completely dont get why you coulld be botherd enough to actually email negativity. Yay Susie Bubble.
THAT outfit got negative comments?? that’s crazy!
The people who disliked that outfit, quite simply, are wrong.
I would love to give anyone who even asks you to tone down your wonderfulness, a swift backhand to the head. And if you ever listen to them Susie you’ll be getting the same.
i just wanted to say, i very much am inspired by your individual style and think it’s simply brilliant. all i can say is keep up the amazing work, and i admire very much your style.
i love the doll

Every blog I read, whether it’s news, sports, fashion or gossip, gets vicious hate mail. It’s a weird phenomenon that you never see in the print media (which I work in). I think it only means that a lot of creepy people have internet access and get a thrill from drive-by shootings. Bloggers shouldn’t take them seriously.
did you notice that when you type a comment it comes up with the wrong name as in your own name will be on the post below. I only realised this because when I posted to say I drew this, it came up with the wrong name. I just sounded SO self-centered lol! Yay Susie!!!!
crap Im an idiot and Im completely wrong and just ignore me and my previous post 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁
thats creepy
I have been blogging madly for ages and I hardly get any comments. When I finally get one from someone who isn’t a regular, it is negative and rude. It was the only thing she left on my whole blog. I was really upset. Just wanted to get that off my chest.
tellement mignon!
Oh, I’m sorry you had that experience, Susie. I like that you have fun with your clothes and have a sense of adventure. Just because I couldn’t get away with wearing it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. And God, if I hated something that much, I would just skip over it as another poster said. Don’t let the asshats get you down! 🙂
I meant to add that the gif is so cute! Love it!
I was also VERY shocked by people’s comments the first time round and was incredibly angry that people would show such disrespect. without sounding like a freaky stalker, Susie you are my fashion God (or goddess to be pc)!! the gif is indeed amazing.
Thanks for all the compliments about the GIF – all praise goes to Kialy!
Negative comments on Style Bubble are more than welcome but it is about constructive criticism or reasoned dislike rather than malicious hatred and petty snideness…. that I cannot abide… my skin has grown thicker the longer I’ve been blogging but getting hate mail that goes along the lines ‘I can’t believe you write a fashion blog when you have no fashion sense…’ is just about the limit….
Thanks for everyone’s support and remember, it isn’t that I don’t like a difference of opinion and you guys are more than welcome to diss whatever I’m wearing. But I think we can all differentiate between good criticism and just plain pointless hating.
cute doll
-h of candid cool
oh my gosh… susie you are indeed brave. i’ve personally never got such emails… you are great for continuing to do what you do despite the grumpiness of some lurkers. i roll my eyes at haters.
the doll is adorable! you keep inspiring us!
Don’t pay any mind to the jackasses, Susie. They don’t have to like everything you wear, but there is no excuse for rude behaviour.
I’m glad that you push my boundaries of acceptable dress. That’s one of the reasons I come to your blog. Even the outfits I don’t like give me something to think about.
Those people (by which I mean the ones who felt compelled to criticise rather than critique) are, pardon my language, uncouth. It’s one thing to disagree; it’s another thing entirely to be rude.
hi susie,
i was pretty shocked to read the comments after your ‘i have never’ post. why? because of the vitriol, and also because it is not what I would call the craziest of your outfits! Maybe people were shocked by the audactiy of the bra? I don’t know, but it surprises me that it is THIS outfit that the nasty pasties got so woked up about!
It also made me really sad to read that it might make you leave blogging. Of course blogging is about communication, but please don’t let negative communication get you down, or dull your personal style in any way. The very thing that people were criticising you for – pushing boundaries and wacky experimenting – is what makes your blog so popular. We admire you and your style so much hun! you take risks that many are too chicken to take, and if it does not work sometimes? so what? c’est la vie, at least you had fun in the process! it is no reason for us to be nasty.
I wonder if maybe people allowed their spite to be more barefaced thanks to the anonymity of the internet – I cannot imagine people saying some of those things to your face! ~It’s a good idea folks to not sprout some opinion on a blog that you would not say to someone in real life~
But what was the most impressive of all was how you dealt with the criticism! It’s really great that in the face of vitriolic comments you did not stoop to the nasties’ level. you go girl! xx love rose
PS I thought the outfit was super-cute. I’m loving the sequins trend 🙂
hahaha. how much of the negative reaction you got was from american readers vs your fellow londoners? just curious. there are a lot of people on this side of the pond who revolt against any unlikely/daring/different combination. it’s a very filtered style over here.
Susie susie…what a cute doll you make…but you are awesome in real life too…or at least in real pictures 🙂
Listen, please don’t let negativity bring you down….you ARE my beam of creativity and fun in the fashion world…you are what it’s all about baby. keep on rockin it.
