Am I going to have to bestow the same amount of blog attention to Gap as I do to Uniqlo (it IS a tad ridiculous how many posts I have devoted to that Japanese chain….)? When headlines like ‘Pierre Hardy for Gap’ is grabbing me, well, I just can’t help but comment. Pierre Hardy will be designing a capsule collection for Gap for autumn-winter and then a more extensive collection for spring summer 2008. The word ‘Ehhh?’ does comes to mind. But the word ‘Ker-ching!’ also pops up. That’s not to say that we can expect a similar level of architectural feats in Pierre Hardy’s collections for Gap seeing as I don’t even remember seeing a pair of remotely dressy shoes in Gap(lovely Lanvin-esque leather ballet flats and some oft-mentioned biker boots though at the mo….). They seem to expect the same sell-out effect as the Roland Mouret collection had last year but if you remember, my feelings on that collection was that of a ‘Meh and bleugh’. Perhaps Hardy will go for the same approach as he did with designing that special one-off shoe for the Kitsune shop or his limited designs for La Redoute – Hardy gone simplified? I’d be interested in whatever approach he takes though. I’m not however expecting the same hands-on grabble as seen for the Roland Mouret stuff.
It also remains to be seen whether this is reserved for European Gap customers only seeing as the Gap website does offer selections of a so-called ‘European Collection’. However there doesn’t seem to be any correlation between the offereings there and what the Gap stores sell here so again (no sign of THOSE jodhpurs for instance…), so I’m not entirely sure how the stocks are flowing back and forth between both sides of the Atlantic. Gap-Watch continues…. (did I just say ‘Gap-Watch’?)

gap have those jodhpurs in glasgow – i tried them on, pretty funky but my ass is too big for them to look good!!
Just saw this story on FWD and SO DISAPPOINTED that US Gaps aren’t carrying it.
FOR HEAVEN’S SAKES WHY NOT US GAP?!
and I have been wanting those jodhpurs as soon as you put them up on your blog… =_=
Wow! If those shoes are part of the Gap collection they’re pretty adventurous, so I’m sure we won’t be seeing them in the US.
But upon closer inspection of the Euro Gap them are showing online in the US, I do like the simple pieces a lot. I plan on checking for them in person.

I tried on the jodhpurs, but they weren’t jodhpur-y enough…!
i have yet to be attracted to any guest designer offerings at mass retailers. i touched lightly on that yesterday on my blog a bit too.
