I know I lamented about my crestfallen expression when I clapped eyes on the Julie Verhoeven collection for Mulberry but I’m now lamenting even more when I got given the routine-LFW canvas bag, illustrated by Julie, complete with a sweet little tag asking people to check out the pop-up shop at the Mulberry store on Westbourne Grove. It’s dedicated to the Julie Verhoeven collection and is only there from the 16th Sept to the 6th Oct. I’m not sure if it will pain me more if I visit the store just to check out the supposedly ‘magical’ interior which was revealed at a tea party on Saturday, as I’m really not into the collaboration with regards to the products themselves. But those illustrations, the lure of a loopy store interior (I just can’t resist them…) and basically Julie Verhoeven’s whole persona and attitude (gotta love the Windsmoor vintage polka dot dress and the gold Gibo shoes she wore at her tea party)…. why did it not all add up to me loving her collaboration with Mulberry?

as an illustrator myself i am wary of just ironing on illustrations to anything….collaborations are a delicate thing and different everytime….i love julie verhoeven though.
Congrats on your big mention in the Herald Tribune!
dear susie,
i completely understand your being disheartened about the collabration – i am with you there-
but please-you must attend the pop up shop and give a proper report on it- i would myself-but cannot hop across the pond in this moment-
years ago i scouted out gibo by julie and was lucky enough to come across 4 dresses-which now hold the height of my fashion collection-any info on whats she’s doing now would be appreciated for ages to come.
cheers for years-

I also agree about the collaboration, but I’d definately go to the shop!
Agreed! To the store I go!
WendyB: Thanks…the interview was a little um…interrogating with regards to what ‘perks’ are there to blogging? It seems to give blogs a LOT more importance than what I personally feel about the subject….tetchy stuff…
I thought all the bloggers came off really well, including you! 🙂 You should post a link so peeps can read it!
on the other hand, the new, shiny patent bright purple Mulberry bag is having a very good go at persuading me to spend £600 in one go…
