I feel like these days all I’m ever doing is rejigging and tweaking things. You probably all think I’m some sort of baked-beans-on-toast scoffing student what with me wearing skirts as dresses, making belts into corsets and generally squeezing as much as I can out of my wardrobe. I treat it all mean… to keep my bank manager keen… (that sounded better in my head…).
These YSL taupe pumps needed severe updating and with some cheap stretch bias binding and elastic net ribbon, you can criss-cross to your heart’s content. I sort of prefer it with cheap elastic/matt binding as ribbons in more luxurious materials sort of make it look like I’m treating my ankle like a wedding cake (there are acceptable times to do that but when pairing these pumps with some Preen cotton jodhpurs, the wedding cake effect is not what I’m after…). I promise you the cankle effect is not as bad as you see here because when you’re standing up, it’s all A-ok. Ok, poor excuse of a post over. The phrase scraping the barrel come to mind?

Hello, that looks good i very much like this blog!
Ooooh, me likey!
You are fabulous and I like this idea. looks good!
Susie, that is a great idea…think of the possibilites! Or maybe not, your head will explode. But you could go longer, many colors, even different shapes of stretchy stuff.
I really like this idea, no scraping the barrel in my mind! I’m imagining all the things you could do with different cord or ribbon and different colour shoes!
oh my god, that’s effin’ brilliant!
Those are gorgeous pumps.
Shit girl, I’ve been experimenting with a similar idea, via a camel homemade shift dress and some navy grosgrain ribbon. I oughtta post some of my recent results in wardrobe remix or something.
I’ve probably said it before, but you have divine taste in footwear. How do you keep these taupe pumps so pristine, by the way?
I approve! did something similar to this with some heels of my own, only using stretchy elastic headbands — they had the added bonus of keeping my shoes firmly on my feet while I was dancing!
That is such a good idea! I actually had a dress that I had nothing to match with and I didn’t want to be too matchy matchy by buying a pair of new shoes in the same color bloc. I think I’ll have to steal this idea from you! By the way, those pumps are absolutely gorgeous!
Ooh fabulous idea. Love it!
this looks like a serious update! luv it. it reminds me of a pair of socks i bought from tokyo (not elastic but like ribbons, if you know what i mean!)
have you ever heard of the brand Posso the Spat? they are croc and leather shoe covers! so groovy!
