Old or new, Alaia never fails to floor me and the last couple of seasons have really been quite exciting to watch, as he emerges and is relevant again. The nickname ‘King of Cling’ is really not applicable and I think gives people the wrong impression of Alaia as his collections in the past and present have though been body-conscious has never stuck to simply being tight.
I’m a little sad that I missed the presentation of his SS08 show by one day as it’s on Wednesday and I have to lug my unwilling self back to London tomorrow. Such is my love for Alaia that a giving me the lookbooks for this season is a little bit of a health hazard. Especially where the shoes and belts are concerned. If you see a pool of drool collected at the 2nd floor shoe space at Dover Street Market , that would be me as I do have a fetish for staring at and softly stroking Alaia’s shoes. DSM certainly doesn’t have the full range as demonstrated by the look book in so I’m refraining from flicking through it for too lengthly a period lest I ruin the lookbook as well.
It was also a bit of a health hazard to go to the Azzedine Alaia stock shop (note about the link – for Paris newbies…I highly recommend checking out Secrets of Paris by Heather Stimmler Hall), which is tucked away in a courtyard at the back of the main rue de Moussy Alaia store in the Marais. Yes, everything was 50% off but that makes none of it any less affordable for me. The great thing though about the stock on sale is that nothing is particularly trend-led so that you can rely on the pieces to age well.

Alaia has been getting some serious press coverage of late.
Someone has been doing something right..

PS, Did you ever have a peek at the interview? There were two parts, the second is quite recent, so still on my main page. Be great if you could let me know what you think.
Oh! Those shoes. I am drooling myself right now.
Love it all!

Sorta off topic, but you definatly started a trend with the whole bra-over-outfit thing. Somebody’s stylist must be reading your blog.

Scroll down to The Fugma Sisters and Nelly Furtado.
god, those shoes are gorgeous. i visited the stock shop as well! the prices were still out of my range, but it satiated my ogling needs.
Wow the shoes are to die for. I especially like the top left ones
always love him. those corset belts and openwork booties are great.
Love the grey/black shoes on the bottom left – would like to see what they look like on. Does the wraparound band sit snug against the foot or protrude slightly? Hmmm…
By the way those black sequin trousers you were hankering after a couple of weeks ago are now in stock in Topshop OxCirc. – but there’s only a few pairs left!
I adore the accessories! Actually I adore everything Alaia!!!!

The thought of being made comfortable gives him strength to endure his pain.
