Perhaps it’s my utter immersion in amongst fashion blogs. Perhaps fashion bloggers brains are syncing up in a scary way. Whatever the reason, about a month ago, for a styling photoshoot assignment, I was dabbling around with rolls of clear cellophane and messing around with some outfits at home.
Then a month later, having not posted those pictures or done anything with them other than for private purposes, KoS comments on layering bubble skirts over a Burbery Prorsum pleated number. ‘Sheer with structure’, in line with all the transparent stuff being touted for SS08.
Are we sending out fashion brain waves over the discourse of blogging? In any case, I’m loving it because you don’t feel like such a freak for your fashion dabblings/messings in your bedroom as somewhere out there, someone else has the same sort of idea. I have to say though, my experimentation was more for editorial purpose as the noise of cellophane is just a little too crunchy if you’re trying to go for the ‘wafting around on a spring day in translucent dresses’ look. So I would say the shower curtain idea isn’t such a bad idea. Plus, that type of PVC has the most addictive smell (no, I’m not a glue sniffer… I just like it as it reminds me of new toys….). In any case, I’m also all for showing your bones.
Shall we start a ‘Show Your Bones’ blogger group? Who else is up for joining, just in case you too felt that urge to go sheer whilst not knowing others on the blogosphere had that same urge?

What about bubble wrap, wax paper or that new saran wrap that is not sticky, but adheres to everything it touches?
Sometimes scientists continents apart are working on the same theory – whoever publishes first wins.
i like i like… do you ever wish for the 60s type clear raincoats? mmmm….
I’ve come across a stumbling block – I can’t find a perfectly clear shower curtain! I can have a frosted one or one with big circles or with ducks and even flowers, but plain? Not so much. So far, so nothing!
Blade Runner has been on my mind…remember the clear coat in that?
perhaps you need to indulge in a clear trench, susie
i read that photographers often have the same thing – dreaming up an idea / concept only to find someone say across an ocean has come up with the same idea independently.
Oh, I love the 60´s transparent raincoats. But I never found one..
And if you want everyone, please visit my new blog – retrolifestyle.blogspot.com
it would be an honour.
cheers

I love what you’ve done. I say show the bones for as long as they’re that good!
cool. alexander mcqueen actually did transparent plastic jackets and trenchcoats for men, in his collection of f/w 07/08…so cool especially combined with the futuristic (Barbie’s) Ken from the 50s look.
PVC would be a good alternative to cellophane, it won’t make a sound. I bought half a metre a while back but have never used it. I wanted to make a gathered skirt in clear plastic but it’s pretty sticky to sew on. Perhaps I could just wrap bits of it around myself?
