The grey skies have permanently descended upon London and if you see the post below this one, my mind is pretty much a grey hole too. I am holding up though by escaping into Katy Smail’s illustrations. Her work first caught my eye as I religiously read Fashion156’s blog, jealous that I can’t accompany my musings with lovely illustrations in manner of Fifi Lapin or Garance. Katy’s work reminds me a litt of Edward Gorey except, solely focused on the ‘tragic heroine’. When you yourself aren’t feeling 10 out of 10, it’s oddly comforting to look at the scowls and the sad expressions that Katy depicts, especially as they’re so beautifully done (hard feat when using felt tips….). I think if I had the skills, I’d much rather illustrate myself as opposed to taking pictures to get across the moods of various outfits.
I look forward to getting my daily doses of KT…

Thanks for posting these! They’re fantastic, and it’s hard to pick a fave. There are more over here, and each one is a gem:

Oh these are stunning- I love your illustrator posts, where do you find out about them from?
Drusilla…through excessive browsing and stumbling around…. plus my sister is an illustrator so she hooks me up sometimes!
