A blogger’s shop trail is one that no one will probably know about save for fellow bloggers and readers. Due to the nature of blogging, it is such that one blog will write about what another blog wrote about and the chain grows longer and longer. Fashionologie first turned me onto The Urban Collection, the online vintage store, a while ago and even plugged them when Fashionologie was featured in Grazia. Then I couldn’t resist blah-ing about it. Then Queen Michelle discovered the delights that Dree (the owner of The Urban Collection) picks out. Now everyone is giving The Urban Collection some serious blog loving. What’s not to love? Regularly updated stock. Pieces that are contemporary looking and ‘pop’ at you. Quality checked. Sized so by and large not too much altering needs to be done. Sent to you with a personalised card. The only failing would be of course is that when an item displays that Sold sign, your heart sinks as you know that item is one of a kind and never to be seen again.
Tuxedo Dress $92 // Paisley Shirt $39 // Bordeaux Plush Tent Dress $67
Metallic Slouch Top $38 // Grape Leather Peplum Jacket $69 // Violet Tunic Dress $39
A furry coat with military detailing which I had ordered a while back, meaning to take it Paris Fashion Week with me, had been sitting in Friern Barnet post office for the past two months waiting for me to deign to pick it up. Since weekdays are out, I made a note to pick it up every Saturday but the lazy ‘croissaint and Guardian in bed whilst watching Saturday Kitchen’ routine hampered me every time. Until today, when on the busiest post office days (last X’mas posting date etc…), I chose to pick it up.
I thank the skies that it didn’t get swallowed up by the disasterous system that is Royal Mail. It’s perfectly roomy, has this beaten-up grey leather stripe detailing with shiny buttons and is beautifully lined with satin. It’s got a texture that slightly alludes to fur but is more like furry moleskin. Vintage Balenciaga coat aside, this will keep me going for a while…

wow, i love all the items from The Urban Collection!
And I remember your one post about that striped dress you are wearing under your lovely coat in the pictures!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Cate
There is definitely a lot to love about the Urban Collection. The sizing is of grave importance, it really puts some ease into buying vintage. Your Balenciaga coat is to die for.
Is that a naked woman in the poster behind you?
I love that coat! I think that someone fashionable up in the sky or otherwise must have had an eye on it, haha. And actually, the bra was styled over a t-shirt on the actual website!
The coat looks great (and so do you, in it)..and I love the little sliver of Sauders-esque printed skirt showing below the hem.
Oh my goodness, it’s beautiful! Really suits you 🙂
j’adore the tuxedo dress, but i’m sure it could be easily made from an old tux jacket and some black & white fabric, perhaps using a bow tie for the bow.. hmm, i’m going to try it and save myself monies. 🙂
Ooh. Nice shoes!
Yup…I am a secret perv… that is indeed some nudity behind me…
I think I pulled it from one issue of Another magazine… for explanation it matches the length of the other Another poster on the other side…
Thank you guys but really…go check out The Urban Collection if you haven’t done so… the gems are really worth snapping up…
Cate: Merry X’mas to you too!
Dru: That IS the Jonathan Saunders dress I bought a while back…
WendyB: The shoes were a random buy on Brick Lane… no label, no nothing…just some random shoes…
ah! i love them too! they are so great! i love that coat… the stripes make it…
anyway….:) warmest wishes to you!

I’ve never seen a coat like that! It’s lovely. I think your vintage Balenciaga might be my favorite though–that has to be the best Ebay-buying story I’ve heard. 🙂
