I have a habit of buying shoes that feel fine when you’re in the store trying them on and you walk five baby steps before declaring them the most comfortable things in the world. Then you start pounding the streets teetering dangerously realising that after walking 5 minutes up the road that these shoes hurt insanely and you come home with red sore spots and a broken spirit.
Well these were those kind of shoes. I bought them at a vintage store for about £10 two and a half years ago, wore them once to a party and into the old shoeboxes they went. Today however, because I kenw I was going to be taking cabs everywhere, AND it is St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d give them a second chance – they deserve more than to be languishing with my old Sketchers sneakers.
Result! They a) no longer give me red sores, b) I can walk around with no difficulty whatsoever and c) they look so cute!
Either my feet have shrunk or I’m just more used to heels now (yes, they’re not that high, but high enough for me!). I can now tick them off my shoe guilt list.
Hmm…it might be time to give those white 1920’s mary janes another try. Or the 5inch platform shoes? Oh dear….. guess I will have to plough my way through them all.
