Nothing but the coat

This is the season for the statement coat.  By statement, I really do mean a BIG one!  I suddenly have the urge to not just wear a coat as a cover-up but to make the coat the feature.  Trapeze, opera, scarf, swing, duster in satin, silk, brocade, faille, taffeta with ruffles, frills, huge cuffs and collars, pleats, big buttons (or add them yourself!), embroidery.  All lovely key words to put into eBay as hunting for such coats in real vintage shops can be painful if the price is high (and they always are for such statement pieces!).

Here is what I have found…

Vintage 50’s Reversable Navy Faille Coat (currently $24.95) // Titanic Era Opulent Satin Coat (currently $70)

Art Deco Silk Gold & Velvet Scarf Coat (currently $115) // Couture Silk Spring Coat (currently $175)

Note: I really wouldn’t be put off by the sound of the humongous sizing.  You can always belt things up and if the silhouette is supposed to be loose then let the coat billow out all it wants!

  1. I love the Art Deco Silk Gold & Velvet Scarf Coat and the Yellow trench. Oh btw I think you have the pricing for the art deco coat wrong. It’s 115 not 1150 lol.

  2. Ooops…..thanks Andrea…you’ll notice my SPaG is pretty bad (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar…I don’t mean speghetti!). I love the yellow trench too….really thinking of bidding for it actually coz it’s pretty cheap atm.
