As part of the RED initiative to raise awareness of the Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa, London fashion darling ,Giles Deacon in collaboration with Converse has designed a line of African mud-cloth inspired trainers.
The mudcloth method is a centuries old tradition which utlises tea, plant juices, and of course mud to make a cloth. Deacon has emblazoned this cloth over Converse’s iconic trainer to celebrate African creativity and culture. This is the first of the limited edition lines which will see Converse collaborate with other figures of the fashion, art and music world to benefit The Global Fund. Whilst looking pretty damn cool in these Cons…you’ll also be donating 5-15% towards the fight against AIDS in Africa. So you can do a two-in-one and double up the feel-good factor! They’re soon to be available on the website and also in selected stores worldwide.
