Fly like it was yesterday…

Promo_retrobag_aircraftpen When I read that my favourite airline Cathay Pacific is reissuing their travel holdalls that they used to give away to passengers in the 50’s-70’s to celebrate its 60th birthday, I suddenly remembered how much I loved vintage airline bags.  I don’t know why I went through this phase – I think it was my first foray into ‘vintage’ because I hadn’t the courage to wear second hand clothes yet and I needed a functional bag.  To this day, my taste in bags is still very simple and uncomplicated.  I love being able to chuck everything into one bag without worrying about what’s going to fall out and I do travel a lot so why not use these retro airline bags!

As with most things, the best place to find genuine ones (not the reissued shiny fake vintage ones) is eBay.  Just type in whatever airline you like the look of (or fly frequently!) and ‘bag’ together and you should come up with some goods.  The older the airline (or dead airlines like TWA, Pan Am) the better of course!
