I think this tops the Weirdest Rumour Ever poll – 20th Century Fox have supposedly claimed the rights to Sailor Moon, the Japanese manga and anime created by Naoko Takeuchi and they wish to create a live action, English language film version. That alone nearly made me choke on my Pringles, but then to hear that they wish to enlist LINDSAY LOHAN to star as Sailor Moon ….. well, that’s just wrong on SO many levels! I won’t start a rant but this rumour did remind me of my little embarrassing past….
I was deeply obsessed with the anime and the manga of Sailor Moon. I’m not a hardcore Japanese manga fan and those in the know will say that Sailor Moon was amateurish and awful but I just loved it! It was just such a pretty manga to read and a really funny anime to watch! Well you’d find it impressive if you were 7 as well! If you have no idea what Sailor Moon is, it’s basically your run of the mill superheroes with secret identities except add some cute uniforms and lots of talk of love healing the world and you get Sailor Moon!
I just wanted to share some of the artwork because I love Takeuchi’s drawings, really her best work I think.
And I also must confess…..I had a MASSIVE crush on Mamoru AKA Tuxedo Mask! Yes, you can officially write me off as a complete loon!
I realise this post is completely UN-fashion related but on a side note, in the anime, they do have some very cute 80’s style throwback outfits!

hi! i’m a portuguese girl currently living in milano, and i absolutely loved saylor moon! but i’m not sure about the movie…i think manga is impossible to recreate in real life action?! anyway…your blog is great (& also the music you chose for it). it’s really refreshing and kind of original (all the other fashion/style blogs are starting to look scaringly alike). i can’t stand the lohan girl so i hope they don’t pic her to do the movie… ciaooo

haha, I’m going to have to chime in here as well. I used to be obsesed with Sailor Moon (watched the anime, bought the manga, tried to learn Japanese…) and also had a huge crush on Tuxedo Mask! I was even (dark secret here), Sailor Jupiter one year for Halloween

Takeuchi was a huge fan of designer clothes, so there’s many many pretty outfits in the manga and artbooks. It’s so weird seeing Sailor Moon mentioned here. I’m not into Anime or Manga at all, but I was SUCH a Sailor Moon obsessee……….so many memories. =D

I have liked SM since it ran on Cartoon Network and its still awesome. Both the Anime and the Mangas were pretty cool. Who cares what other people think. I was also like 8 yrs. when I saw it and everything is awesome when your that old.

Takeuchi’s art has inspired me on so many levels!! xD She uses many techniques to make her work more glamorous than it is!!! I agree that Lindsey Lohan would be a very bad choice. >o< If Fox does make a Sailor Moon movie (...better not screw it, heaven forbid!!) I had hoped it wouldn't be in the present day style... the story and atmostphere wouldn't suit ;o; I'd say 80's style sailor moon would definatly do the job justice!!!!!!!!! >0<

Sailor moon will go on forever! It is a toughing and magifisant story of girls just like us saving the world with wonderful and mysterous powers. I wish for it to be restored and played through out the world once again. 3 cheers for Naoko T!!!!!
