A.P.C. to go big and (bad?)

apc.jpg

Apc Only a few days after my A.P.C. related post comes another.  According to vogue.co.uk, A.P.C. is to show at New York Fashion Week in September.  I’m not really all that happy about this piece of news.  Somehow I like the fact that A.P.C. is a niche casualwear label and that it’s ethos was never to create fashion or trend items but to incorporate A.P.C. into your lifestyle, to look at the ‘basic’ in a different way (much like Muji I think!).  In fact, I recall reading an interview with A.P.C.’s founder Jean Touitou where he specfically said he did not start the brand with the intention to be fashionable.  I like the fact that the brand is not high-profile in keeping with the clothes themselves and if this is in fact a commercial move to raise A.P.C.’s profile or to steer it towards high fashion then I don’t see the point in that either.  A.P.C. has a broad enough following and doesn’t need democratising at all.
