I’m someone who’s not just interested in the surface of fashion, how it looks, how it appears which in itself is contradictory as fashion is in its essence about the appearance of things. I’m intrigued by what inspires people to create, how fashion is born, what moves people. how people see fashion other than the obvious images. So I was quite delighted by the images created by over 100 fashion insiders (models, photographers, designers, journalists etc) in association with Canon. Called ‘The Other Side of Fashion’ Canon gave cameras to people like Christopher Bailery, Donatella Versace, Jimmy Choo, Helena Christensen and Albert Elbaz to take very personal pictures of what fashion means to them and it really gives a reflective insight and also imparts a bit about their personality. The images have now been compiled into a magazine that is being sold to raise funds for Red Cross and is very worthwhile tracking down if you can.
Model, Jodi Kidd’s picture of quite literally the other side of her photoshoot (gaffer tape…useful in more ways than one) // French designer, Isabel Marent’s work in progress polaroids of unfinished garments that she likes to re-work to get the finished product.
Britsh-based Japanese designer Michiko Koshino’s faceless dress up session // Jimmy Choo and his traditional Chinese paraphenalia inspired shoe
Belgium designer, Walter Van Beirendonck is inspired by kitschy toys // British model, Felicity Gilbert snaps herself in a Japanese goth lolita-esque getup

Thanks for this post! The duct-tape photo is such a great example of why clothes will never look as good in person as they do on a model. 🙂
yeah I was estatic when I got the magazine last week, Jodie Kidd’s pic was my fave and Camilla Staerk’s post it notes!!
Felicity Gilbert looks SO cute! I love goth lolita.
Great post! I’m more interested in the behind the scenes stuff because it’s more raw and gives a fresh approach to the basic runway show.
brilliant stuff, the old gaffer tape
I love the collection and good post, greetings
