Not dissing my past workplace or my ex-colleagues but I never get style inspired going into work, and if I was had to get inspiration from other people, that all evasive ‘smart-casual’ dress code that we had to stick to wasn’t really going to cut it. Of course, my working environment is vastly different now and the Dazed & Confused fashion team threw up a tidbit last week that I tried to attempt here. Someone from the team was wearing some black lace cycling shorts, by whom I’m not sure… but they did look like a hybrid of Prada’s AW08 black lace and Miu Miu’s AW08 cycling shorts…a brand cohesive lovechild.
Anyhow, since I’m getting some newer, longer lace leggings, the existing ones I had could afford to be cut up so I took them up to cycling short length and had an outfit-fiddle with them. Cycling shorts have never really been on my agenda but I do think these leggings benefited from the shorter length seeing as they were a bit baggy at the calves to begin with. Anyhow, I’m thankful that I don’t have to look at a sea of Thomas Pink/M&S shirts anymore and were it not for the fact that I’m currently glued to my gigantic iMac screen for work, I’d be peering away and getting a few more tidbits…
Hey
I have given you the Brilliante Weblog Premio 2008 award.

It’s so good you’ve been showing us some of your style these last couple of days – more please, I’m addicted!
When you mentioned lace cycling shorts I was very doubtful, but then I scroll down and, of course, they look great on you!
What could make office life more bearable than an office-full of well-dressed inspiration? I love it!
Also, that navy top is gorgeous, do I spy another skirt/top hybrid?
I’m in love with the AA skirt/dress, i ordered it as soon as it came into stock but have not yet had a chance to wear it. Looks great with the lace short/leggings.
You should smile more often. I always like your posts better when there are more good/goofy smiles. Sometimes you look so sad and it doesn’t make me as happy, even if it is a good post. Seriously.
But I am smiling on the right! I doth protest JR!
That said, yes, I don’t smile that often in photos…right now my boyf is not here to take my pics and they’re blurry with the tripod hence the sad face…. oh and I hate my smile PRECISELY because it is goofy…
Must say I like your take on the cylcing shorts trend much better than Miu Miu! and your goofy smile is cute! 🙂
I’ve supported pretty much everything you’ve ever worn but this…..no. I just don’t find it particularly interesting as look, it’s too much “Let’s Go to the Mall” and it’s 1983. For me, it’s too referrential. It’d be like taking out a cheap 1993 power suit jacket with those massive shoulder pads. And I don’t really like leggings that come calf length or above. Anyway, sorry to ramble about how much I don’t like lace leggings but just….bleurgh.
i love you outfit today!!!!!
I want your pink shrug! Hand it over this instant!
bravo! i started seeing this look a while back at a night club i go to. the dj, one fantastic girl, loved tights but it had been too hot to wear them while riding her bike to the club and a new vision has been formed.
I did this by accident when I was on my way to work and realised that I had the hugest nastiest run in my lacey leggings, so I chopped it up and voila, made it to work on time without looking like crap. 🙂
The term “Lace cycling shorts” invoked 80ies horrors here, but it looks really great, who knew?!
Really cute layering here, still too much for me to try and pull off 🙂
