I will forever remember the Paule Ka store in Paris as a) the place where I damaged YET another piece of electrical equipment, namely my digital camera which I accidentally dropped on the marble floor (replacement on its way soon I hope…) and b) where I felt very stupid asking how much everything costs despite wanting everything that was on display, because it was a press presentation. I was supposedly there to just nod, observe and listen as opposed to silently screaming "I want everything!". Paule Ka is one of those brands that I see featured all the time in French mags but despite having 2 stores in London, its presence isn’t really strongly felt here. People will say that it’s one of those brands that is a trend-latcher… without an identity of its own but makes perfectly clothes that are ‘on-trend’, somewhere between Joseph and Marni in the label ladder. Not that any of this stops me from wanting practically everything in the SS09 collection.
Well judged nude, structured sheer, well-styled cycling shorts (in black sequin no less!), plenty of black and nude elastic, feathers that look graphic as opposed to frou frou and volume that looks rigid… it’s ticking all the Susie boxes, despite the fact that I love the idea of wearing nude but look like a Humpty Dumpty in it. Oh well, Humpty Dumpty it is because I just love the INTERESTING cleanliness of this collection. It is pared back and edited but it packs a juicy punch.
Oh my! Those black sequined bike shorts are AMAZING! I love them so much, and I appreciate all the designers you introduce me (and probably many others) to.

the shoes remind me of last seasons elasticated (is that even a word?) marni’s that i love but am much too poor to buy
Whether this label is “leading” or “following,” I don’t mind. It looks fresh to me, especially the foot/legwear!

totally digging the sheer jacket. and the skirts/ dresses. and the shoes. i think i would have done the same and just asked how much everything cost too…

sheer trench coats make me absolutely crazy!! BCBG did one last spring for their runway and everytime i would go to the store id have to touch it. but sadly, i cant wear those things…
but it doesnt stop me from loving it!
Holy heavens! This collection is going to stay in my head for weeks… I’m seriously speechless! Those structured tutus, the nude legbraces, the coccoon cape! The straps bunching up a loose tee is something I’m totally going to do… but not without the propure heads up to Ka!

Paule ka can do no wrong, and this is just perfection seen as I have recently gone sheer crazy, the sequined cycling shorts…want want!!! also the nude sheer pieces are just amazing.
Everything at Paule Ka is gorgeous. Here in Spain many stylists feature him.
