Turning Upside Down for Insideout

The internet may have provided the blog with most of the research content but if I can’t find something through the wonderful world of the interweb, then I will make damn sure I try and come across it in real life.  Paris Fashion Week gave me such an opportunity where at the sprawling mass that is the Tranoi showroom, I rediscovered the label Insideout which when I first wrote about, not knowing much about it, and wrote about it again, STILL not knowing much… finally, I could put faces to Yvette and James behind the mysterious label and better yet, I have their contact details so I can harrass them for information as their website is still not up ready yet.  Reason why I need to harrass them is I cannot for the life of me understand why they still have no UK stockists.  Their trompe d’oeil printed garments; each piece so versatile and so well-executed that I can see a piece falling into most people’s wardrobes (men and women…)… that I can see in department stores, boutiques alike… an interesting staple label if you will.  Where for art thou then?!?

Do I have to trek all the way to Japan where apparently they have quite a few stockists?  Thankfully not because they will be taking matters into their own hands and launching their e-shop SOON (will repost when it is up…).  The S/S 09 collection in a continuation of what they have always done consists of silk pieces printed with recognisable fabric textures, garments like the trench and mishaps that are made beautiful (holey fabric, worn out muslin).

  1. Imitation t-shirts are cool. Love the one that gives the perception of a trench coat. Would be cool if it was beige with black “buttons”.

  2. Definitely excited for the e-shop boom we seem to be on the verge of. Do you follow/know what’s going on with April77’s attempts at getting theirs off the ground?

  3. Amm looking forward to the e-shop opening! These pieces look great! Gorgeous prints, I particularly like the top worn by the model in the last pic!

  4. when I see designers sans website I’m this close to call them up and volunteer for making sites for them. Can’t stand it!
