A gift to me, to you…

My trick of giving gifts to the boyf that also double up as wearable for myself might take a step too far when I’m in danger of picking things that the boyf wouldn’t wear at all and in fact, it’s an evil selfish ploy of mine to shrug my shoulders and say ‘Oh well!  You won’t have it….I will, ta very muchy!’

Louise Gray, whose dresses have made me weep in Liberty at the inability to afford them, has started making a capsule line of to-order men’s t-shirts, of which a selection are available at Dover Street Market.  They feature her trademark adorn and embellishment tricks which I love her for and are long enough to wear as dresses and are ¬£150 a pop.  The tactile quality of her pieces can’t really be conveyed by these pics here…

Gah…I’m not even gonna go through the pretense of gifting the tee to the boyf…

  1. gosh, i love louise goldin. lucky you to be living in the same city as dover street market…i especially love the first one. yes, why bother with the pretense, it’s perfectly worth buying for oneself !

  2. ooh sneaky one you are! i’ve tried that line of thinking… well with my ex husband, i got him a long scarf from burro years ago.. he thought it was too girly. so i kept it myself… nowadays my bf is in love with the scarf, and he wears it all the time.
maybe it’s like the glass slipper of gifts?

  3. Well don’t pretend, they’re perfect gifts to you and you’ll find another present for the boyf later. I really like the first one.

  4. hahaha. i do that ALL the time. i convinced my johan to buy a really great geometric grandpa like heavy knit cardigan (i was too poor to) and wore it to work the day after he wore it.

  5. haha you’re so open about your ploy! =D it’s so funny… those are really unique outfits! looking forward to seeing you add your trademark style to the end ensemble

  6. LOL ^^ I’m about to give my dad a Laurel and Hardy DVD for his birthday, which will benefit me very much too, of course!

  7. I agree that these aren’t something I would pick out for myself but I miight just wear them, my favourite is the first.
I like the idea of sharing certain items with you very much. It would guarantee a low cost per wear rate!

  8. The top one…I am screaming because I love it and I am too thrifty to buy such gorgeous treats.

  9. Agree with Missmilki – perfect tee-dresses! I really like Louise Goldin. The first time i saw her stuff was next to the Henry Holland stand at London Fashion Week. I somehow didn’t look properly and though it was Henry Holland’s new collection and mused, ‘my, he has come a long way in one season!’ Doh!
