New York Fashion S/S 10 Deets End End End

I've perfected 60wpm typing speed on Crackberry which means I'm able to blog en route to JFK airport, watching Manhattan get smaller and smaller. It's been a bit of a draining week and if you see me around London, I'll be sporting some fetching black shadows around my eyes.

So the deets have coming through in large spurts but in all honesty what with me reverting back to the shitty digicam for the week, the number of pics have been greatly reduced and thus have to be grouped this way.

My second season in New York has culminated with two things really…a newfound appreciation for simplicity and my belief that finally PRs get the whole blogging thang (judging by blogger turnout at fashion week – met so many that I've lost count)…at least in New York, Paris is a whole different kettle of fish…

Julian Louie basically nailed a minute selection of ice cream shades that I'm completely enamoured with on the condition that if I should wear such an outfit, I have a matching ice cream cone to accessorize…I love the fabric fringing he's done too…

Continuing my predictable lemming thing, obviously Rodarte blew me away…. and even more so when I went backstage to glimpse at the destroyed-made-beautiful fabrics… burn burn burn I say!  Makes my bra-burning antics look lame and tame…

Sure these pics are everywhere but yup, Tavi was acting as spokesperson for Rodarte for Target's line not out until December but she got her hands on some of it…cream lace and navy netting and a reminder of Rodarte's pretty pretty days…

Man Shoe Envy is the worse.  Made even more worse by the fact that Phil from Streetpeeper picked these cute boating shoes up from mercibeaucoup in Tokyo…

So in a weird turn of events, I ended up at Alexander Wang's studio for an interview with the Wang Man himself and checked out his now expansive T line which err…includes bottoms too… sort of defeats the object of the name but anyhow it's grey jersey galore so I'm not complaining…

That corseted sweater has swayed opinions a little but I'm sort of loving it from the back…

I knew it was niggling at me when I saw them at the show but finally I found out that these wooly/angora-esque shortsleeved sweaters with attached chiffon shirting WAS inspired by an outfit of Cher's in Clueless… you know when she fails her driving test and boo hoo hoos?

Peter Som's collection was a charmer and quite literally…charmed me with this gigantic multi-object necklace…

Pamela Love did a really brilliant presentation with different tents set up for different aspects of her jewellery line…

Jolibe finally decided to present this season and it was all crystallized (another Swarovski jobbie…) but I was fascinated by the embroidery that made this sort of relief effect on dresses…

  5. Hi Susie- those are silver chains on the Rad Hourani pants! Some pieces have this couture touch that took days to make. I loved the metallic touches in his collection. And the zippers are actually unzippable all the way, so you can vary the sleeve lengths– a subtle change from last season.

  33. wow it doesnt take much to design now days just money and a pipe in which to smoke crack from.. There are no legends in design just tons of volunteers with disgusting taste and cheap rub off versions of Galliano, Mcqueen, Lagerfeld, Dela Renta, Dior etc. Designing is not all about keeping up with lame trends or playing of a haute couture piece, its about innovation and honestly I have yet to see anything innovative. Stop stealing from those who took time and study to create. You are just destroying something that was at one time pure. If you profess the love of fashion lets be honest at 90 yrs old can you honestly say you made a mark that could transcend beyond the crappy displays of so called art/fashion that we see flooding the industry now. I understand artistic expression but to be honest in the true expression of an individuals art rings true to them but its about how you make it relevant to others.
