Caped and Suited for Leaf Crunching

>> Obviously I wasn't just going to don a pair of desert boots and leaf crunch wearing the birthday suit… the boots needs some serious outfitting to take on the activity that is leaf crunching.  Given that autumn is my favourite season, I'm dutybound to do the season justice by going with cliched codes of autumnal attire such as mixed plaid, jaunty scarves and gloves that don't necessarily keep the hands warm but are there for aesthetic value.  I'll happily go with those cliched codes especially to accomodate this Harris Tweed cape that was a collaboration with Beyond the Valley (hopefully some New Yorkers got to see BYT in action as part of the LES/Newburgh Quarter 'Wish You Were Here' boutique swapping programme…).  Initially I was going to go for a Sherlock Holmes-dedicated outfit given that Guy Ritchie's flick is coming out this year… alas, I was lacking some proper tweed trousers, the right hat and a pipe to really make the ensemble truly shine.  Instead, I've resorted to ol' fashioned autumnal check mixing to make this cape the perfect leaf-crunching partner in crime…

  4. i really love the way you mix prints and colors–it’s the perfect combo without looking like you just threw whatever together–aka–hot mess. LOVE it though. this outfit is amazing.

  20. LOVE the Autumn feel to these photos!
I really would like to get my hands on this cape, I checked BtV’s website but it isn’t on there, so guessing I shall have to call and ask about it. How much was it if you don’t mind me asking?

  21. beautiful and funny. I really like how you managed to mix and reinterpret the classical drapery fabrics typical of English menswear tailoring, using bright colors, new volumes and fun accessories. A little Paul Smith, a little Jean Paul Gaultier: genius!

  22. THis is one of my favourite outfits I’ve seen you wear!!! Although all are great

  23. Well played, Susie Bubble, well played. I don’t know how you manage to mix all those colors, textures and patterns together and still make it a look. But it looks great.

  24. Hey Susie, I’ve been a long time reader and this is one of my favorite posts! You look really great. How’d you get your hair like that?

  25. that’s a really well put together outfit. the cape has a perfect cut. that makes 2 sites having me think about capes again. i LOVE fall!
