Pick a Colour, Any Colour

Ever played that "Let's cram as many colours into one outfit just using solid block pieces and no prints and patterns" game?  I admit, it's a bit of an overly specific and pointless game unless your wardrobe is sorted like a solid colour coded rainbow.  But still, a fun challenge, with success granted only if you avoid looking like you're wearing your entire wardrobe and manage to get at least TEN colours in.  Actually, lightening bolt just struck me as I was typing… let's make that an actual task for the weekend with bloggers/readers submitting pics playing that game.  Because Friday is FUN isn't it and of course we all need a pointless outfit challenge from a bored blogger on Guy Fawke's weekend…  no seriously though, the mind is cogitating very fast and yes, I would like to see this challenge play out in reality so please send your "Let's cram as many colours into one outfit just using solid block pieces and no prints and patterns" submissions to twinkle260@hotmail.com or leave a link here on comments.

I only used the game though as an opening gambit to LF Markey's S/S 10 collection and her range for ASOS which is online now.  I didn't manage to cram ten but with a bit more time and energy, surely it wouldn't be such a hard task to achieve given Markey's penchant for cramming colour blocks into her pieces.  For ASOS, in less shiny fabrics than her main collection Louise has painted quite a rainbow that are all dying to be worn with an array of solid super opaque tights and bright bright shoes.  For her main S/S 10 collection, she mixed prom and gym all into one and has made basketball attire a rather more exciting affair than numbered jerseys.  If I had a floor length poofy pink gown to wear to netball, perhaps my glasses would not have been broken TWICE by the ball (I played… wing defence… the crappest position of them all…).

So, my intro has sort of overtaken the main point but hopefully LF Markey's crayola lovin' will give some sort of impetus to take up my errr…. very half-baked, spur-of-the-moment challenge…

  1. Yes! This exact concept is where I went with my last Outfit of the Day. I love it! (Though I think mine might have been a bit more subtle—even better when it’s bigger and bolder.) Your confidence is infectious!

  2. Oooh, I have the perfect blazer in mind for this challenge…I accept!
I’m in love with the one colourless item shown…the block stripe cinderella gown.

  3. Oh, I love love colour, so you may just help me break a personal rule, challenge on . . . perhaps.
You look lovely as always 😉

  4. Funny thing, I actually contemplated doing something similar when I got up and decided to wear my Francis argyle dress today–see how many colourful pieces I could pair together without relying on neutrals. But then I opted for the coward’s way out and wore it with a gray cardi, black tights, and black booties.

  5. Hello girl! Great post and great initiative. If you want to see bold colors mixed, see the first look of my last post. I love all these pictures that you put.

  6. I think these outfits are the antithesis of the black on grey on more black that we see at this time of the year.
Your blog is fabulous, I love the candid way you write.

  8. I love the giant striped gown! Meanwhile I just got a bunch of lovely color-blocked pieces by Christian Francis Roth so I won’t have to make a lot of effort to get multiple colors into my wardrobe, which is a good thing because I’m lazy!

  9. I’m ALL ABOUT color in a pretty obnoxious way, just look at my shop! Ten though?! Without using any patterns?! You’re really throwing down the gauntlet here. I’m going to have to give this some serious thought. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! How fun! 😀 xoxo

  10. I love your outfit and the collection! I will definitely be submitting an entry into this game.

  11. well well well….here’s a challenge I can’t let it slip by…..it’s coming, you’ll see. Love your style.

Anyway you have to laugh because to day the England Football club logo came in the place of style bubble instead of ebay. for gods sake what is up with my effing computer?!!!
Anyway please believe me when I say I haven’t touched the england site!
    Oh well!
Enjoyed reading your gorgeous musings again today and I will be back tommorrow for sure. I think yours is the only blog where my name actually does have a double meaning when I put ‘Tomorrow x’ at the bottom of a comment!

  19. i love this. i thought about doing it, looked into my closet and realized… i need more color!! love the outfits ladies!

  20. Oh Susie! You look amazing! ..I tried! But I ended up looking like a MFL teacher – not really the look I was going for. The tenth item was a red beret, which probably was a major factor in the ol’ looking French situation, heh.
Have a wonderful time in Hong Kong! I love the smell of wet concrete when you land there. Beautiful.

  21. whatever colors that suit the style. it can be easy and simple as green match with yellow and gold color or a complicated design with yellow, green, blue, orange and red even add wit purple.
