Half-Baked Challenge

>> Seeing as my impromptu outfit challenge of "Let's cram as many colours into one outfit just using solid block pieces and no prints and patterns" was rather half-baked because it wasn't SUPPOSED to be an outfit challenge in the post above, I thought I'd formally present it with an outfit that illustrates the challenge.  Or at least tries to.  Technically, it plays to the rules – no patterns, no prints and at least TEN colours but keeping the shapes quite muted and incorporating some matching elements means that hopefully it doesn't look like I'm too much of a rainbow.  That said, I'm not ruling out submissions that do resemble a rainbow and with the use of pastels, fluros and gem shades, the results of this wardrobe game are pretty much endless.  I do realise I've set a rather hideously pointless and difficult challenge but it's no 10km marathon so hopefully some of you looking into your wardrobe will find it in your heart to pull out five colours and more and pile them on…

(Yokoo pom pom headband, vintage Ralph Lauren purple poloshirt, COS coral/red dress, vintage Rodier turquoise jacket, Lazy Ones colour block skirt, Topshop pale green tights, vintage peach gloves, Designers Remix knit bangle, Kron by Kron Kron shoes, I Heart Norwegian Wood leather belt, Marc Jacobs gold belt – I think I counted 13 shades of colours in total but there are colours that are close indeed… not counting black of course!)

  4. You look like a painting, or a model for a little girl’s favorite doll. I think your imagination knows no bounds. xo

  7. I’ve already done my outfit to submit, but its only got about 6 colours, oops! It really IS much harder than I imagined, but I think you’ve pulled it off quite well. Not rainbow bright-esque at all 😉

  9. I think you definitely passed the challenge! This is one of the few examples when more than five colours still looks completely amazing.
That first shot is really beautiful, I love how your fringe is covering your eyes. And the whole outfit looks amazing- I like the little vintage details such as the peach gloves. Fabulous shoes too..
I think I might have to have a go at this challenge now. You’ve inspired me!
I heard about your blog a long time ago, but for some reason never took a look at it. I’m really glad I did now!

  10. OH MUTED COLOURS. That should go so much easier. I think I’m going to try and make a 10-colourblock outfit every day until I find one that I genuinely like! Some muted colours may be the key to this… though I don’t know if I have any 😀
Anyway, adore your outfit, as usual.

  11. SO GOOD TO SEE THE KRONKRON SHOES OUT IN AN OUTFIT! i’ve been wondering when they’ll crop up!
    🙂

  12. I love it! Kron Kron droolage. I wish they’d sort their site out!
Is there a time limit on this? I want to give it a bash on my day off tomorrow! Although my entire outfit is basically prints…
    xx

  13. I’m not surprised that you could do this with your outfit with your amazingly extensive wardrobe. I have to say, though, I was a teensy bit surprised that you managed to make it look so good! Like you’re not doing some sort of challenge, just wearing a great outfit. I don’t know why I’m surprised though – I have evidently neglected visiting your blog. xxx

  14. Love your outfit! I think we’ll give a go:) Sending you in an email. Or maybe we should post it up on the blog too!

  15. It’s definitely a challenge that if made into a game show, something like “hole in the wall”, you’d be a resident expert – like Susie in the Book Corner (Susie in the Block Corner, I guess). It’s a world of pain for people like me who own black, grey and navy but for today each nail will be painted a different colour in honour of you (and in honour of being 12, and a colour cop-out) – You’re our fashion Blue Peter project presenter who makes the bat cave look soooo 20 years ago. I hope this will do.

  16. If I do it can I set a counter challenge? The styling equivalent of Double Dare You Back? Because, let’s face it – ten colours ain’t hard for you is it? Whereas I am scrabbling around wondering if I HAVE ten colours in my wardrobe….

  17. Love your look. Color shocking.
I noticed belts are the very important accessory this fall.
    Love your shoes too.

  18. everything here is just gorgous! the kronkron shoes amazing, and the pompom headband are my favorites!
