It Won’t Rain On Me

Ok, the title is a lie  It will and has been raining on me on numerous occasions, but the question is NOT whether I will get wet.  Because that is a certainty for someone like me who refuses to carry an umbrella given that I lose about ten brollies every year.  No, the question is, whether I'll be happy to get wet, which is down to whether I have something like this bit of rain outer gear to keep the spirits up.  Not only will I be happy to get wet, I will literally skip down the street which will inevitably make me trip up on a rock and even when I land on my arse and bruise myself, I'll still be a happy chappie because I'll be wearing this polka dot clear rain mac.

I'm getting a bit spoilt in terms of rain friendly outerwear given that
I've only just bought that gingham Valentino coat from Claire Inc.  However, when I came across this mac on La Meow on Etsy for a more-than-reasonable price, I decided I needed a bit of plastic cheer, the type that smells really really artificial and slightly sweet (those of you with addictions to the smell of truly plasticky plastic).  I've suddenly found myself with slightly more time to browse around the likes of Etsy/Ebay, to train myself not to become lazy in my shopping habits because for a while, I was losing my will with the 'patient search'.  Fortunately, with more and more curated vintage selections popping up all over the joint, frankly, the task is becoming an easier one.  La Meow's updated blog gives a wee taster of what her Etsy store is all about in terms of its period-mixing selection of vintage.

If I should fall in my rain skipping, I'm also hoping SWANclothing's sock garters will also stop my childish eyes from welling up (let's not talk about the time I cried like a baby when I twisted my ankle in a non-sympathetic hospital in Paris).  Especially if they're attached to something colourful like these Falke football/footless sock type things.

So conclusion.  My hair will get wet.  My make-up will run.  But there will be nothing but cheery glee from me as I scramble about in a puddle, scooping things back into my bag.  All inevitable of course.

  1. i sorta went ‘Hoooo!’ when I saw this post, i think it’s crazy I love outfit posts so much.

  2. love the footless tights and shoes.. and of course the mac, i find wet weather so difficult to look good in! ruin a nice coat (well temporarily) or wear a kagool… meh..

  3. wow Susie! this outfit is definitely one of my favorites!
all these Stella looks good on you… and the raincoat is absolutely perfect!

  4. The mac is brilliant. This is what I hate most about coats, the fact that they’re opaque and cover up your outfit, this mac (even though it won’t keep your hair dry) is perfect and we can all still see the lovely outfit underneath! Pretty!

  5. Susie, I swear to god, that is the coolest craziest outfit. Wish I had your imagination. Have a good Sunday. xo d

  6. I have fallen irrevocably in love with your quirky style.

  7. Your writings are sooo funny. I love reading the words that go along with your posts. And I also wish I had your imagination for outfit-putting-together. ….on the other hand, I’m seriously considering ordering a pair of those sock garters immediately.

  8. The only problem with plastic macs like this is that your hands get so so wet (as does uncovered leg). You may need rubber gloves 😉

  9. oh my goodness, i think i am in love! you are so cute and i wish i could put together such interesting and adorable outfits half as well as you do! the raincoat is beautiful. and i love the turquoise knee high stockings and the light pink tank. its perfect <3

  10. loving the mac! i never carry a brollie with me either im too scared of getting blown away mary poppins style LOL! and in love with the bralet i think that is what it is called? But then again I could have made the whole thing up ha. Be careful whilst skipping I fell the other week and currently have a purple knee (Eeeek) I think I did myself some damage but hey i learnt a lesson – do not skip in heels! or maybe do not skip whilst wearing heels and drinking too omuch wine i think that may have been to most important factor. xxxxx

  11. Wow that raincoat is so perfect, being clear makes such a huge difference! I love the colors of your outfit too, especially the matching blue on the bra and tights.

  12. Vicky: It has to be said, the Stella McCartney dress and shoes were from the sample sale which was truly bargainous…and the bustier was a birthday gift from my boyfriend…

  13. oh you got that raincoat! i want that. too funny. i have to find one. and of course i love what you did the the sock garters. yey! i definitely think of you in pale pink. thanks for making such a wonderful outfit!

  14. This outfit is marvelous and reminds me that I am in need of a see-through raincoat! Yours is particular good… I like how the dots add an extra layer even though your whole ensemble is still visible. So now I guess I will be searching for a partially see-through raincoat. 😉

  15. LOVE LOVE this outfit. although you are a brave one for wearing light colors when puddle jumping.

  16. What great inspiration! Very cute mac! I have a dark blue one and I know what you mean about the plasticky smell (love it!). I will have to wear it soon because so far I have never found a way of pulling it off in a stylish way.

  17. This is stunning, the candy colours are delicious! You do details so well, the line you tread somewhere between art and fashion is so exciting. You look absolutely beautiful!
(I’m on a real Stella kick at the moment, just done a post on her resort line)

  18. This is really VERY cute and some how naughty at the same time. Those cheeky sock garters. Love the Stella dress underneath. Lovely 🙂
