>> Oh, Ann Sofie-Back… as well as having a name that makes an easy task for writing hacks like myself to do not-very-clever wordplays with you have given me an urge to unleash a very very large personal order attack…
I remember a scene in some godawful Hong Kong movie about shopaholics where a wealthy lady goes shopping and picks out three things from a rack of about 30 items… these are the three she DOESN'T want. The rest, she's buying. In quantities of three. (Which reminds me, pourquoi is Victoria Traina buying THREE pairs of Prada chandelier shoes?)
This is sort of how I felt when I saw ASB's A/W 10-11 Back line this morning. One of each. Please. Need I go into the reasons why? Heavy doses of grey, twisted takes on the basics, unapologetically functional whilst avoiding the boring trap… etc etc etc…
Owh the clean cuts, the zippers in all the right places, crazygood, can’t wait for the London show. (Not that I’m going…)
Owh that zipper jackety thing reminds me of this: http://www.brookandlyn.com/blog/?p=3152
WOW. they are impeccable designs. structural and chic.

Oh I really like that black zipper dress.. I generally like the clothes though, I like her shapes and favrics, and the clothes are simple and straight forward but still interesting.
agh! I want all of it!
Grey and structured heaven.
I’m really into that final black cape, though I suppose I’m just a bit cape-obsessed in general. I love grey though sometimes I’m weary of wearing it because if you sweat in it then it’s extremely obvious, not that that should be a problem most of the time!
luv the last outfit!:)

Brilliant details – i LOVE the interlocking zippers and buttons. PURE GENIUS!

Sadly, I know which film you were talking about.. However, thankfully, I’ve never seen it.
Also that quote (the one with her saying ‘i don’t want these items, but i want the rest of the shop etc etc’) was popular among my friends for a while…
speaking of which, i particularly love the safety pin + trousers
Love the grey, the comfy looking fabrics, the interesting shapes and zips.
SO SUPERB, i’d gladly fall into a big, grey, ASB-shaped hole at a moment’s notice.
Susie, I have been reading you for so long now and am only just getting around to organising my own musings in online-form, but THANK YOU for your input on here, you write superbly and with an utterly charming way about you, a little delight to read.
Hmmm, I can’t say I;m a big fan, but I can appreciate it for the skill it takes to create those shapes π The grey top with the pointy/poofy sleeves looks like one that I liked from Marc Jacobs. I would take three of that one…
Like it..!
OH MAN I wish she would start doing menswear π
That grey jacket with the zips is PERFECT – it is very similar to one that Markus Lupfer did for his final Armand Basi One show in the Saatchi Gallery, but it looks like Back has refined it and perfected the shape. Even though it’s totally different, it also reminds me a bit of the Christopher Kane sheer biker jackets from a few seasons ago. Hmm maybe it’s the prominent metals zips on fabric.
Honestly, I think the BACK collection looks a lot better than her usual mainline offering (excluding last season). Certainly more wearable (eek hate that word). Looking forward to seeing her next collection though, just waiting for the postman to bring my ticket…

LOVE Ann-Sofie so much. Perfect not-basic-at-all basics.
Those cuts are amazing. I especially love the last 2 pieces–the sheer blouse w/ winged sleeves and the cape like piece w/ cut out sleeves!

Loving the top on that all-grey outfit. Very nice.
What an amazing collection! The cuts and kind of minimal feel are really interesting…It makes me think of NY designer Rad Hourani.
