Oh Elle

>> I realise the title of the post refers to the lovely blogger of the same name but oh well/Elle, I'm feeling mighty unoriginal this morning.  (Btw, hope the Blogging Workshop at Topshop with Disneyrollergirl and Coco's Tea Party went well yesterday!).  I'm also feeling like my eyes will fall out of their sockets.  It's all very long winded and boring but basically I lost my glasses somewhere in New York so contact lens overwear has led to… well… something not very pretty (you'll scroll to the bottom if I tell you not to right?)

So, this is just an ickle postscript on the Elle Style Awards which I was invited to for reasons, I'm not sure seeing as I'm not a red carpet spotter, nominated or presenting anything.  I was however grateful to be cheering on the peeps I love, that scooped awards such as Tom Binns, Camilla Skovgaard and Holly Fulton.  I had to rush back and type like a maniac whilst trying to handle the eyeball-falling-out situation but from what I remember involved lots of paper folding, cutting, collaging, a Maison Michel polka dot hat (worn by Mandi Lennard) and a snow globe containing our menu for the night (almost was tempted to nick it for EJ who is a snow globe freak).

I vaguely remember this being me at happier times when the eyes weren't feeling so sore…

Here's me this morning recapping the outfit with less happy eyes…  I realise I'm not doing the dress and the components justice really but it's not mine to keep so oh wells/Elles…. so this peach knotted bit of confectionery is by Yong London, which I don't have a great deal of information on but I'll be finding out more soon. Over it went some metal ammunition courtesy of Fannie Schiavoni.  Seeing as it was hovering around the zero mark, the vintage Rodier jacket and a Miu Miu cape I bought from Tokyo 7 in New York went over it along with some Uniqlo tights and some Michael Angel x Manolo Blanik booties (will explain these printed babies later…) that make for a weird colour mix that I can't quite describe other than, it's neither bright nor pastel.

  1. in this day and age it always bothers me when a swift google search returns nothing – Yong London appear not to exist, but that delicious dress says differently! i love love love it. particularly with the metalwear combination. you look lovely! i hope you enjoyed the evening, Susie.

  2. What you lack in eyes you put on in colour… But hey, the combination and knotted dress is lovely! (Also we need some colour in this dreary weather). The blonde lady is doing a Daphne Guinness, I suppose (I read she is wearing veils nonstop now, even making her own), and the structural things are impressive. Keep up the good work, Susie. Sleep will be with you in… 2/3 (?) weeks, well, whenever these fashion shows have finished.

  3. Those shoes are amazing!! Love love love them πŸ™‚
Keep blogging, you’re a star little lady!

  4. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your peach/pink Yong London dress & Fannie Schiavoni chain harness! GORGEOUS outfit, Susie! πŸ™‚

  5. Haha thanks for the mention sweetie. Shame I didn’t get to meet you at FW think I saw you from afar a couple times. Anyway you look great and did Fannie make that as a one off for you? I haven’t seen that one before. Can’t wait to get my Fannie piece…!!

  6. Well, your eyes LOOK fine even if they don’t feel good. And as the Billy Crystal character used to say, “It’s better to look good than to feel good.”

  7. Love all the colours and layers mixed together and ALWAYS love Fannie Schiavoni. You look rather thin, I hope Fashion Weeks aren’t taking their toll on you my dear.
Come by and say hello sometime…

  9. I just found your blog and LOVE it! Great style. Check out mine when you have a minute: ellenitza. I think you’ll like it too.

  10. That pink dress is wonderful – make sure to write a post about it when you do find out more about Young London. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love all the knotted detail. I’m not a pink girl, but that colour is perfect for it! I like how you put the Fanny Schiavoni harness (?) over the top of it as well. It takes away from the girlyness perfectly.

  11. LOVE all the colours you mixed, but that red cape (?) is AMAZING!!!!! And I really like your hair like that. You look like a heroine from a 60s james bond movie. In the BEST possible way (is there a bad way to look like that?)
