Stolen Sunnies

>> I can't take full credit for this one as I got this sunnies tip-off from Karen Langley from Dazed and to be honest, I'm not even sure Janz & Cooper are ready for the world yet given that their site seems to be hosted on a server and not hooked up to a domain name yet.  Still, I'll charge right ahead and say that I'm quite excited to see a young start up eyewear label with frames that have personality and that are also entirely made in Great Britain.  Flying the GB flag can get tiresome but in a particularly niche area such as eyewear, I can only imagine that there are a few labels that still bear that Made in GB mark… Oliver Goldsmith comes to mind but I'll have to consult the Archiv peeps to check up on this.

Still, GB or not, Janz & Cooper have caught me eye for eye with what looks to be some weighty acrylic acetate frames that are for now, come in three styles

What any of that means is not the point when you're dealing with frames that are striking, not overly in-yer-face and look to have a lovely finish.  Despite my objection to overly pricy sunnies, I must concede after some years of going through some cheaper ones that the weightier acetates do show their worth in the way they a) look and feel on the face and b) last.  I'm also quite intrigued by the way they have applied fabric directly onto the frame as per this Swell Well Well floral style here which opens up heaps of opportunities for all kinds of nifty collabs which no doubt will happen as per the norm for a lot of sunnies labels…

I also vote for MORE, MORE, MORE (including lots of detailed pictures) about Janz and Cooper's local framemaker James who lives by the sea according to their one-blog entry (ever done that – started a blog and left it at one entry?)

  1. Wow, there stuffs so nice (MS). Don’t do sun glasses tho??
where did you find them Fran?

  2. they are brilliant…love all the sunnies..though in particular..i would grab me those black circles…the fabric-use is fabulous…they sure should become a household name soon…..

  3. think she means acetate, not acrylic – acetates being the material that frames are normally made from or lightly known as ‘plastic’???
