Bleached Out

>> It seems like it was only a matter of time before Bleach aka hair colourist Alex Brownsell and agent Sam Teasdale's roving salon set up at Wah Nails in Dalston, would make the move into town and so into Topshop Oxford Circus it goes tomorrow.  Brownsell's name may not be instantly recognisable but her bleach work is with this iconic shot of Katie Shillingford by Tommy Ton being one of her most famed calling cards in addition to many shoots for Dazed and i-D.  Kaleidoscopic hair doesn't seem to want to go away and in addition, Brownsell can magic up most solid colours too if dip dyed hair isn't your thing.  Still, I do think if you're hitting the bottle, trying out dye combos with names like 'Blue Lagoon', 'Cheeky Vimto' and 'Berocca Rinse' seems like the sensible and sane choice…

The Bleach salon at Topshop will also be offering hair stencils, spraying heart shapes and navy crosses onto your mane… I'm eager to see whether any of this would show up on my pitch black hair…

Brownsell's Bleach work recently featured in the Topshop S/S 11 lookbook if you need inspiration for the accompanying clothing…

It sounds like a terrible cheesy cliche to advise people who don't have tickets to shows to go hang around Topshop Oxford Circusbut I do think their in-store events each season get more and more extensive with live-streaming as well as workshops and talks… I'll be doing a 'Blogging from the Front Row' (err… well not constantly in the front row but anyhow…) talk along with Zoe Patoff of the Inside Out Topshop blog this Saturday at 11am and 5.30pm.  Do drop by or just shop and pop your head in.  I'm fully expecting quizical looks from Saturday shoppers who are like "Blogging?….whaaaaa?"

ps. What time does your workshop at Topshop start Saturday? Please let me know, what to join!!

  3. Dying hair bright colours is really fun, I dyed mine pink last year and now I’m addicted to dying it all the different colours of the rainbow.
I love Bleach’s dip dye, but the price tag is a wee bit too much for a strapped for cash student, I guess its gonna be a DIY job.

  4. Oh shame I’m away this weekend I would have popped in to say WAH!
Also didn’t get a chance to say hi at the LFW fash film evening
    xx

  5. My friend with loooooooong straight black hair, and who is a belly dancer, had red lightening bolts died into her hair. It looked very amazing.

  6. I love this bleached hair trend, the red hearts are pretty unique, but I don’t think I’d be brave enough to try it myself :’)

  7. As a fellow Chinese girl, I’m also curious if this will show up/stay on my hair. Hair dyes have good staying power, so I’m hoping this might do to!
