Slow Seasoning

>> Two head-to-toe black outfits in a row?  Well in truth, in between there's been a splash of Orangina orange, electric blue and some neon yellow but who's really investigating.  The main point here is that I've been slowly seasoned.  Not with jars of Schwartz spices of herbs but by the slow burn of a past season that means over the course of a year or so, I'll slowly get wacked with the realisation that yes, I did in fact like that collection.  There should be an accompanying eureka soundtrack noise that comes with this realisation.  Maybe a naff little Nokia-esque ringtone would be apt for what is a dumb realisation for anyone else other than myself.

Miu Miu A/W 10-11 with its deliberately clunky and pronounced 60s shapes and childsplay floral motifs, gets a faint reverb here thanks to an impulsive dash into Nathalie Schutermann in Stockholm during their fashion week.  "70% SALE" said the windows and in I've been fairly tame in my sales shopping this time round despite the fact they've been going on forever and evvvvveeeer it seems (the Opening Ceremony one will probably be my last port of call…).  There aren't that many stores that sell back season stock so it was a surprise to find A/W 10-11 Miu Miu hanging around looking deathly black and heavy in comparison to all the S/S 11 stock – that was therefore correctly timed for me to suddenly realise that black court shoes with metal flowers and a pair of knitted ribbed flares were exactly what the ushering of another A/W needed.

My second chancing with seasons tends to be done on eBay or Yoox as a Mr Fury of SHOWstudio can testify.  It's where my inner Chinese market haggling housewife comes out in force, eying up prices like a deranged hawk that has been blinkered by seasonal obsessions.  ยฌยฃ300 for both flares and shoes in the sale is fairly decent.  In my own warped version of Fashematics (my way of justifying purchases) that's the equivalent of a few tops at Topshop and a meal for two at Spuntino.  Along with a vintage dress that has teensy tiny brushstrokes of Miu Miu A/W 10-11, this is a slow season burner that has just about completed its journey.

  1. Great bargains & amazing outfit!
Its funny that those are from Miu Miu A/W 10-11, cos I think 60`s-70`s have been hitting more harder in fashion now in past summer and up coming fall. Well mayby Miuccia Prada has been thinking a head ๐Ÿ˜‰
Was the shoes also from Nathalie Schutermann sale or?
