Me, Me, Me

>> I've given myself precisely five minutes to post this in between stuffing a sandwich in my face, filing for Dazed and steaming my dress.  It's a multi-handed, multi-Firefox-tab kind of a day even though it is the final day of fashion MONTH (no, not a week, not two weeks – whole month).  I've been saving these all up as Adam Katz Sinding of the blog Le 21eme Arrondissement has very kindly photographed me through the week for some much needed watering filler when the blog is feeling a bit dry and parched.  I've got a lot to say on the subject of fashion week streetstyle/outfit orchestrating and documenting but it's something that needs my home iMac back home to churn out.  In the meantime, Mary Fellowes gives some food for thought on the subject here.

I need to bang on about some of these items here in these outfits which are the result of some of my S/S 12 personal orders arriving but alas my five minutes are up… I thank Adam's pics for speaking volumes.

  1. Doc Martens! Timeless!. I own the vegan version and cannot live without them. As usual you look flawless Susie. Do you ever put a fashion foot wrong? I don’t think so. Love the Julian Zigerli jacket, Miu Miu polo shirt, Antipodium skirt, Mulberry bag look.
    Nice job!

  2. LOvely! AMazing & super duper creative outfits dear! 🙂

  3. I hoped for an intelligent, coherent article since you linked to it, but what I read in Mary Fellowes’ (whoever that is) article was self-important arrogance, along the lines of “Out of nowhere in the last few years, an army of apparent nobodies has swelled in numbers, taking over the front line, making entering into a show like running the gauntlet. More often than not clad in outlandish and forced looking outfits, they have adopted the customs of the paparazzi but sadly they have none of the clout.”
    Really?!

  4. I love the way you put outfits together, I think the last one is my favourite – can’t beat a bit of layering and panther action!
On a side note, I do hope you’re not feeling overworked, though I’m jealous you have a wonderful job and get to travel so often I do wonder how you find time to relax. Thanks for being so dedicated to your readers 🙂

  5. Personally I think the first one is my favourite. Good layering, and colour co-ordination. Plus I actually like those shoes! Interesting pics….and you look great. Could that be Paris? Thanks!

  6. I freaking love Adam. I somehow stumbled across his blog pre-LFW and totally fell in love with the style of photography and his subjects… then unexpectedly met him during LFW… and was SO GLAD to discover he’s incredible in real life. So so so glad to see that your Paris outfits have come from him. They are beautiful. You looked stunning – totally awesome and yet practical. Exactly how it ought to be… you clearly cannot survive (work hard and stay healthy) during an entire fashion month in heels/bare legs/no jackets etc… I’ve always admired how you manage to look freaking awesome but not at all like you’re trying.
Anyway, this is long – can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the subject in more depth. Hope you get home safely. xx

  7. Kudos on the Me, Me, Me five-minute photo-splurge..
Sooo many Bubbles! Like a beautiful yet really expensive Bubble Bath or something.
My five minutes are up to, hasta la vista bubble 😀

  8. You are a talent for sure, when I first found this blog your voice, wit and confident sense of your own style made it a pleasure to read. I wonder now if you need a bit of a break from the heavy madness of it all? To miss it and find its fun again. x

  9. Still drooling over the ridic shoes you designed, so amazing!
By the way, (don’t know how you’ll feel about this but) you look like a movie star in the second picture!

  10. Hey M, I’m not saying the article is a faultless one. I don’t agree with a few of her points but some of them she raised are interesting. Are the people who have been elevated by streetstyle believing in their own hype and reaping the benefits in comparison to someone who doesn’t dress as ostentatiously but is just as talented as a stylist/buyer/journalist etc…
It has all become a bit too much outside of the shows.

  11. You look gorgeous Susie, it’s so hard to pick a fave but if push comes to shove, I’d go with the second ensamble, I love that shade of pink on you. My style inspiration, always!! XXXX

  12. love your pastel lacey skirt in the second photo!
note to myself: possible DIY? maybe dye white lace? hm, do they make pastel dye? hmm…
sorry, I was talking to myself 😉
    xx

  13. I must say the article you linked to didnt go down very well with me and i must agree with m.
There will always be overrated people but most of the article sounds like a line youd hear in a bad hollywood film said by a stuck up fashion assistant.

  14. You really do have some great outfits here but my favourite is the first! Love the gold Doc M’s and handbag. Thanks for sharing them with us!

  15. That dried flower pailette sweater is awesome. Too cute. I really like all the outfits. Everyone do me a favor visit my site. Up-and-coming fashion clothing site.

  16. Every outfit looks great on you! But the colour of the red lipstick doesn’t really fit to you. sorry!! why don’t you try out more often some shade of purple or pink? it’s just my opinion…

  17. Hi Susie thanksk for clarifying. reading the article again, I can see a point she’s making about posers, but the collateral insulting of smaller bloggers was pretty ouch.
I just feel ‘to each his own’. Dabbling in a field in the hope of success happens in every sphere — silicon valley is rife with businessmen and entrepreneurs without an ounce of programming ability but wanting to create the next Facebook or Zynga. And here I am with my ‘billions and billions’ of programming years making a shift to fashion design and feeling grateful that so far, it’s the product that matters to people, not the size of my equipment or clientele. I’m sure many bloggers just want that, like ‘Al’ whose response to the post is worth reading…
    best regards.

  18. Susie you look so lovely with your hair down, and im loving the slightly muted colours in that outfit too, quite organic looking somehow xxxx

  19. WhhaaTtTtTTTTT…!!!! THAT IS SOOO COOOL, CREATIVE OR WHAT I LOVE THE ‘Julian Zigerli jacket’ I NEED TO GET ME ONE! Love your outfits new fresh fashion thats all i can say! Are some of your clothes by new Graduated young designer?
