>> When people talk about blogger/brand collaborations, there's a cynical air that's wafted about. Evil blogger selling out to evil corporate brand. What's each party getting out of it in monetary value? What's the bottom line? These are questions that will continue to put myself and others in the blogger inquisition line of fire.
Is it therefore so hard to believe when I get together with a young designer and mess about in my hotel room, play around with their clothes, bid them adieu and that's it? Oh their token of thank-you affection was a box of cookies from Tribeca Treats. Cookies and clothes horsing around Рthe end. WWD's little newspiece about this video with designers Alex and Eli, had me laughing at "Bubble is not being paid for her time", as though my time is supposed to be portioned up by x amount of £$£$.
It was a laugh. My room at the Tribeca Grand has a pet fish which I've named Tuncay (pronounced TUN-CHAI), and he also got to feature in the video. There was a rail of Alex and Eli's Star Trek-inspired clothing (more about the collection when I get hold of the lookbook images) where I had my first pinstripe experience as I tried on a few outfits. Shruti Ganguly was on hand to film it all. I chomped on a plate of fries whilst doing it. That was pretty much it.
Alex and Eli's way with tailoring has meant that my trouser woes have ended with no alterations needed with a perfect fit that's off the rack and that will continue for A/W 11-12 as a pair of orange-red suede cullottes will be the next Alex and Eli addition hopefully along with a few printed pieces that feature space trinkets made to look like a vintage silk scarf print. I'll be delving more into the ins and outs once I get the lookbook but for now, this is the result of two hours in an afternoon. I love charging my time for cookies.
