>> I was once again reminded of my severe lack of make-up knowledge once again at a consumer panel today where I may have fuffed it all up by not knowing what a 'primer' was. Then I also remembered this Beauty category on the blog was also gathering dust again…
Now, I know these Paperself lashes have had a good deal of press, both online and off but look upon this as scraping the barrel. Plus… so many many reasons to love them…
… they're paper…
… they're paper because the founder of Paperself, Chunwei Liao grew up in a family who worked in the cardboard packaging industry…
… err… paper cutting is oh so…well… patriotic…
… the three motifs of the lashes are peonies, horses and peach blossoms (symbols of happiness, success and love respectively..)… I'm really showing my mother here that I did listen to her whenever she did tell me random tidbits like what's lucky, what's not and that it didn't in fact go in one ear and out the other…
… currently, they're also solely stocked at wonder-emporium Luna & Curious on Brick Lane and you can order through them online too…
… it's surely far more amusing to see a horse or a peony drooping onto the top of your cheek or floating around in your soup than spidery lifelike falsies, should the eyelash application be a bit dodgy which inevitably, it always is in my case…

2010-04-07 at 7:54 PMSabine: Something you wear under foundation apparently… I don’t even wear foundation… so to me, it sounds like another unnecessary product? Haven’t a clue…

2010-04-07 at 9:04 PMi don’t know what primer is, i really can’t blame you!
on a more important note, those lashes are SUBLIME! the most beautiful things i’ve ever seen on eyes, though i suspect only worthy of close-ups and would perhaps look more than a little odd at a distance…? still, who cares! worth dressing up and staying in alone all night, with a good camera and lighting set up. cha-ching!

2010-04-07 at 9:15 PMI think these are very impressive. They really give that “double-take” effect. “is that really… wow amazing eyes!” if you know what I mean. Slightly worried a freak gust of wind will blow them off onto some hotties face though…

2010-04-07 at 10:17 PMI’m going to echo Pearl above – if you cry, will it melt? Or go soggy in the rain perhaps…

2010-04-07 at 10:20 PMPearl, The Licentiate: Me thinks they aren’t suitable for outdoor wear… or for possible crying nights but hey, why would you be crying if your lashes are laced with success, love or happiness?
That said, I rather think a wet horse or peony sticking to the eyes could look quite pretty… !

2010-04-08 at 10:40 AMOh my goodness, these are stunning. I’m really tempted to buy a pair… I bet you could use them a few times. The peonies are beautiful. I love the concept of having paper cuttings as eyelashes!
