Oh dear S…

I'm wacked out with work at the mo so apologies for the lazy post… another Melbournian-tip from dear Kat… I'm going to get bang into my MySpace designer researching as excessive net research has thrown up a ton of names where I actually need to get in touch with ppl to ask for bigger pics/more info and not hide behind my screen with my googly eye.

Charlotte Webb was once working under the name Serena van der Woodsen, before the show got big in Australia.  Now of course the name is no under a viable option what with Fox being all official and mean.  A shame seeing as the name sticks more in my head (perhaps I'm constantly reminded of the annoying glossy prissiness of the character…).  Anyway, Charlotte is in the process of going in between names but has expanded her range of leggings, cycling shorts and scrunchies to lots of shiny things that I look at and think "Hmmm….with a bit of a grey jersey, a dash of thin cashmere, tights and some chunky shoes, the va va voom sex-ay can be toned down quite a bit and become versatile pieces!" (this is my general approach towards all shiny shiny PVC fabrics…).

However, curious about what S was up to in earlier days, I found a particular of leggings that immediately made the heart go thud.  These floral leggings are no longer available because S (urgh…I don't even watch the damn show anymore…why do I insist on adopting that GG voice?) for love or money, can no longer find this particular fabric anymore!  Gah… this is what happens to people who are slow on the uptake with MySpace designers… or when you don't have helpful interns at work giving you great tips… I've learnt my lesson… and if any of you do know of sources of this fabric, I beg you to msg S…

  1. ummmm i don’t know WHY i noticed this but i did: white swimming-costume-ish picture. look at the crotch area. hmmm.

  2. gossip girl is taking over us!! The orange PVC is very interesting, it’s the fact that it’s colored that makes it so different.
The leggings are lovely too..I’m currently looking for floral tights..
    xx-LJ from SOS!

  3. i’m shedding a tear over those leggings. will hunt for shiny floral fabric asap.
p.s. i got some of the coco rebelle shiny bow leggings (my grandma won some money at bingo again!) and they’re fab but very tight!

  4. Nice work Kat! Funny, Lady Melbourne, Fashion Hayley and I were talking about Charlotte while I was in Melbourne. I suggested that with a killer (real) name like CW, why one would opt for SvdW! Now that I’ve seen more of her designs, the switch for whatever reason was needed. Ain’t nothing prissy about her designs.

  5. Love these, especially that see-through top. Yum. Sheer sheer sheer is all I can think about lately.
Is Charlotte Webb her real name? Because I immediately thought Charlotte’s Web and wondered if she was referencing something else…

  6. Yes that is my name. I’m completely overwhelmed by all the lovely comments I should probably go on myspace more than never which seems to have become the case. Thankyou Susie for the encouraging post.

  7. I have some similar leggings in much brighter colours that I treasure. I’ve seen quite a few vintage pairs that are a close match to these.

  8. Like everyone else I’m insanely in love with the leggings. I had abandoned myspace thinking it was full of 14 yr old EMO kids, but maybe I should do some fashion promotion there.

  9. I think Charlotte has a unique vision, but needs to work on the construction of her designs, they look very amature (i.e. gathered around the seams, not fitting the model). However I am sure with encouragement and practice they will improve and she will rise to the top. Also the photography and the model aren’t very appealing – I’m noticing that crotch image too, poor girl must be in pain with that wedgie!
