In the Red Hood

Rrh2_2 Rrh There’s a lot to be said for dressing up as therapy.  Whilst 99% of the outfits that I have posted on Style Bubble are wearable out in the harsh reality of daylight, there are outfits that are best kept to the confines of my room because they are pure acts of dressing-up therapy.

So when this gruelling, nerve racking, finance related-stress-filled week ended and finally the weekend comes around, I looked to a red satin cape that my sister made for her Halloween costume to produce my version of Little Red Riding Hood.  A bit of red shiny cheer never did anybody harm and because by the end of selecting the Jean Colonna leather skirt, the black and white stripy stockings, fastening up the Forever 21 neck ruff and of course donning the black crow  and feeling some swishy satin around my body, the rain stopped, the sun came out and the week that starts again seems a whole lot better.  Some people like shelling out big therapy bills.  I like red satin capes.

  1. This would look so good in an editorial. I love the two striped elements you worked in.
I’m going to need some therapy of my own after this weekend ah…

  2. Hi Susie
I’m a fellow HK-er & I’ve been in London studying fashion for the past 4 years (I’m in my final year now & our graduate show’s coming up next week!). Anyway seeing this post makes me really want to introduce you to this boutique called Yates Buchanan ( I think they recently moved to Notting Hill Gate along Pembridge rd…) because they had lots of bright satin dresses, shorts jumpsuits and skirts…& fantastic greys which you always pull off! Do have a look & let us readers know what you think, it would be great to share it with us! 🙂

  3. ooo a little lolita, i like it! i’ve been hunting for a none wool red cape for my own red riding hood fantasy for ages but most are just like ponchos 🙁

  4. This is amazing……I agree with Drew you should be a stylist……
Id love to see what youd do if you were given an opportunity and budget to style for a magazine!!!
I always play dress up…..but then sometimes i leave the house…

  5. Another great look, it seems like you just have an endless amount of style 🙂 That red hood is so cute, I love that you put your photos against a background, they are always lovely to look at 😀

  6. It’s cute. Where it out.
When I miss my college friends, I play dress up, take goofy pictures and email them for outfit comments. Then I get emails from my loved ones!

  7. Great idea! Maybe I’ll try that next time I’m feeling down, instead of hitting ebay like I usually do 😛 I love the outfit, would be great for a fancy dress party! 🙂

  8. Hooray for the red hood! I used to wear the communal Red Riding Hood cape around my nursery school all day — so much so that I got one of my own for my birthday that year! Lately I’ve been thinking about getting a red hoodie dress off of Etsy (seller: niceface), so I’m definitely on this brainwave…

  9. Any chance that there’s a tutorial on how to make a cape like this around?
I need to satisfy my red riding hood urge without granny getting eaten
