Pearl Lowe is probably not terribly well-known outside the US other than being the mother of Daisy Lowe, (who is making a bit of a name for herself as a ‘normal’ sized model), love child of Gavin Rosendale which caused a bit of a hoo-ha a while back.  She may also be known as long time partner of Danny Goffey, the band Supergrass.  She now wants to be known for her penchant for lace – yards and yards of it.  Her range of lace dresses, which is has been working on since 2001, is apparently selling out at London boutique The Cross yet as sweet and pretty as they are, I can’t help but wonder whether a hardcore vintage/thrifter could not find something similar for a lot less(?)  I like the vintage references.  I like the ‘little girl’ quality about them.  I’ve yet to see them in person, and it could well be that they are the most fantastic lace dresses on the planet but I do baulk a bit at the ¬£200 upwards price tag…

Perhaps for me, I just don’t want to pay too much to look ‘adorable’ and ‘doll-like’.

good point- they’re very cute, but not very special. i do like the black/white styling though in the pictures with both girls; it’s quite clever and has a nice effect.

She’s also known as the woman who threw the kids’ party where Jude Law and Sadie Frost’s daughter accidentally ate ecstasy.
Anyway…Hmm…I like lace, but, generally, these are a little too granny’s tablecloth for me, I think. I do like the bottom right ones quite a bit, though.

They are pretty, but I think you are right … a bit [a bit?!?] pricey… I would be chuffed to find something similar while thrifting and snap them up!

hmmmmm… they’re pretty but ur thrifting comments are right on. saying that, there’s also a smack on copy of the 4th dress in primark atm lol – in white, black or green! xxxc

The clothes are a totally blah, but my god their site is appalling! Perhaps I’m biased as a graphic designer, and I work with properly designed sites all day long, but that itself would actually put me off spending the money they’re asking – if they aren’t willing to make an effort with their marketing (and a well designed site is part of that) then have they put any effort into the clothes?

I quite like lace, its chic and feminine but can be a bit much, a bit too girlie, not very edgy. Thats why i like to use lace accessories, you get the prettiness of lace in a smaller portion and it can soften a really fierce fashion forward outfit. These Bruno Frisoni shoes http://kristopherdukes.com/2007/03/13/lacey-bruno-frisoni-shoes/
are exactly what i’m talking about.
    Perfecto!

DJM you are so right … their website is ghastly!

It’s not very pretty huh Sonia? I don’t know, just seems unprofessional to me – after all most people don’t get to see the clothes first, the site is the initial interaction with the designer – this site says Pearl much prefers to stay in her bed than work!

Re: finding lace dresses at the thrift, it’s rare to find lace in good shape. when I do find them, I snap them up and inspect them carefully when I get home. In all my years dealing with vintage, I have found maybe 5 dresses with out tragedies to the lace, and never one with cute puffed sleeves like this. They are rarer than you think.
