Green seems to be the new black these days, as I keep on banging on about it. By green, of course I mean eco-friendly. In all seriousness, I don’t consider myself to be a ‘green’ person and I’m ashamed to say that when my eco-warrier classmates used to preach to me about the virtues of wearing hemp, I turned my nose up thinking how could this rough, canvas like material possibly look great. But I think Enamore has turned me over to the hemp side. Jenny McPherson has ambitions of making ethical clothing a norm and it looks like she’s not too far off the mark with more and more companies jumping on the green bandwagon. First off, the clothes don’t look like hemp as we know it. It looks like a crisp, structured material and when combined with vintage floral fabrics, what we have is countrified style that still looks contemporary – very Cold Comfort Farm (do check out Kate Beckinsale in the days before her Tinsletown makeover!). The looks have 1940’s touches as well as taking inspiration from the orient with simple kimono shapes. Going green is definitely becoming an increasingly enticing affair – makes me regret snubbing hemp in the first place!
These looks can be purchased at the Natural Store.
(The ones on the left are cullottes – an item of clothing that I used to have an inexplicable fear of but with the right shoes and top are comfy and surprisingly striking!)
Enamore has also created the sweetest desktop images too combining vintage images and graphic motifs. You can download them off Enamore’s site under the Enamore Studio tab.

2006-05-25 at 10:26 PMOmigod I love Cold Comfort Farm! Did you ever see Shooting Fish? Kate rocks the short spiky hair like nobody would believe. I was so sad when she got sucked into the Hollywood crap machine (Underworld, Pearl Harbor, Underworld II, does it get any worse?)

2006-05-25 at 10:29 PMAnne! I LOVED Shooting Fish – she looks so fresh in that movie. I actually had a mini-crush on Stuart Townsend back then…. yeah….she seems to be going for the poofy hair, perma-tan, million dolllar smile look these days….quite sad because I think she’s a natural beauty!
